Championship Striker - Goalscorer!

I started a career without a job and took over Reading who were sitting 14th in the league at the time. I am mid-way through the January transfer window and it is becoming extremely visible that I am in desperate need of a goalscoring striker.

The club currently has Sam Vokes and Pavel Pogrebnyak but neither are really scoring the goals for me.

I have a little under ?8million to spend so any recommendations would be appreciated.

It really could be the difference between me making the playoffs and not.

Batshuayi if he will accept your wage because he has a minimum release of ?6million. Try Mitja Lotric, i personally play him as a second striker but he has the stats to be a brilliant poacher at that level.

Batshuayi WONT go to a second tier team!!

A brilliant option would be ESMAEL GONCALVES but he is tied up at VEROIA in the Greek Superleague in first season. But Id buy him in the second whatever happens (will only cost 500k and will score bucketloads).

For Reading in first season try:

1. Abel Hernandez (already in second tier at Palermo so may not mind).
2. Samata - oldie with awesome stats in the Czech leagues.
3. Vietto - a bit too raw maybe
4. Scout people off the loan lists.

Haven't you still got Le Fondre? He done well on my Birmingham save scoring 27 in their 1st season.

Patrick Bamford from Chelsea! 32 goals in 44 appearances in my first season with Derby! Best to get him on loan!

I was in a similar situation having taken over Reading following a poor spell with Liverpool. You can get Pavel Pogrebnyak
to score if you use him in his best position. However I got rid of both him and Vokes and signed Macheda on a free at the end of the season (also managed to get Cole from Man City on a free). So far Macheda has managed a goal a game in a 4-2-3-1 formation with 2 wingers and him in the Target Man (attack role).
