Changing expectations

I had a search and didn't find anything, feel free to direct me to the thread the same if there is one!

Ive just got to January in my Spurs save and been offered the chance to change my expectations as I'm 3rd.

Does this happen every season or is it because I'm above expectations and has it happened to anyone else?

I've not yet completed any season, however in the challenge of this month there's a player who has found this too, after doing much better than the initial expectations.

It seems that if you surpass them, you may at midseason be offered the chance to modify it, which brings you more funds, but also a chance of trouble if the good run happens to end.

Happened to me because I was top with Liverpool an was expected to come 5th so I guess it just gives you some money so you have more chance of holding your position... Only problem is if you dont spend it well an you end up going backward after January you could get the sack haha.
