Chelsea Squad Overhaul 2nd Season

Need suggestions on new players as there has been a lot of departures in the summer.

Here's the squad -

This is probably my stongest line up ATM. Everyone seen in the SS is the entire squad except a few youngsters and Matic and Lukaku who I intend to sell (Matic due to his dismal stamina and Lukaku because I just don't like him IRL). Also contemplating offloading Luiz and/or maybe Cahill (as he was shocking last season in-game) BTW Terry and Lampard, Cole, Eto'o have left on frees with sales of Torres and Mikel.

Positions I'm looking at:
CB - Agreed a deal for Doria for 10m (pounds) and might get Caulker or Balanta (suggestions on these two?)
LB - Luke Shaw (other suggestions are welcome)
CM - Lampard replacement or a solid Box-to-box midfielder (Home grown preferably)
ST - World Class, immediate impact.

2-3 of these need to be homegrown but other suggestions are fine.

Budget: 55m with a wage budget of 780k p/w. With the sales of Lukaku and Matic for around 30-40m for both I should be left with about 90m
 
Don't sell Luiz, he's amazing. Simply, amazing - and is also captain material for when Lamps and Terry retire in 2016 sort of time. Strootman is a dead certainty for BBM as he can play DLP to a great level too; I genuinely think he's the best versatile CM (in terms of role) that isn't called Yaya Toure.

Striker I would go for Volland or a typical name like Costa or Falcao. The latter two won't be cheap but Volland is accessible and ultra consistent thanks to his great mental stats.

On CB, I would shy away from Caulker, Balanta is great if he's not overly expensive, but I prefer to grab Dede when he's cheap and use Zouma.
 
Swap Oscar for William hes miles better than William IRL and in game!

How you can not rate Lukaku is baffling but okay erm youll probs get ?30m id buy Berardi but what sort of ST you looking for?

Lampard replacement...Nick Powell? Ross Barkley? Will Hughes?...B2B Wanyama? Strootman? Yacob?Poli? Obiang?
 
Keep Luiz, always better to have one senior player in Defense for a while. For LB, Shaw seems like your best bet, since Chelsea always have issues with HG rules. If not Shaw, then Alex Sandro. Jonathon Silva would be a good shout too, as well as Mattia de Sciglio, who can play both sides.

CM - Maybe try a peek at Hughes/Ward-Prowse. They are monsters in the earlier patch, but I dunno what changes have been done to them in the new updated database.. And they're HG. Or you could simply splurge and get Paul Pogba. He should also be HG. Nick Powell is also a decent shout..

For ST, since you use a poacher, maybe Facundo Ferreyra? Costa has been upgraded in the latest database, so he's a good option too..
 
i always keep luiz as all my defence in U24...... so luiz provides that experience and stability....... plus he's amazing from free kicks for me, mostly scores.

CM- i would say go for strootman he is gr8 ...... personally i have him but dont play him that often coz of 2 amazing regens both at 21 but he is my best CM after them

ST- Diego Costa seems to be the best bet...... i would keep lukaku coz he always scores a lot in my saves..... also if u can find Michy Batshuyai he is amazing after teaching him Go Round The Keeper and Shoot with power.........

Oscar got injured last season so I played Willian there and he got 20 goals and 20 assists in the league winning player of the year, he's a beast and on current form IRL Oscar has been poor since Mata left.

I don't like Lukaku because he's lazy, came off the bench in the Super Cup with a few minutes to go, didn't close down and Bayern scored, oh and he missed a lazy penalty. He's always talking about how he expects to be the number one starter for Chelsea (even when the Drog was there!!!) and seems arrogant. I will sell him in-game and hope the same happens IRL.
 
Hes bette than Ba Torres Eto'o!
I think you can get Strootman for about ?20-25m? but look at James McCarthy from Everton for Box To Box!!
 
It will be a sad day when i will go out to buy FM and John Terry won't be in it anymore. He is still world class in my save at 37, so i will say that letting him go on a free was a very bad piece of business.
On topic, i would advise against a team full of young players, because they commit a lot of errors. Strootman, Gundogan (if he hasn't dropped due to the injury) would be good replacements for Lamps. If you decide to keep Matic, try to get the best out of Charly Musonda, Lewis Baker or even retrain Boga as MC ( he is pretty good on that position already if i remember correctly). This guys are still young, and you could model them as you wish. I also had good experiences with lower potential players like Charlie Colkett too, but he is more of a playmaker than B2B.

I really wanted to keep Terry but he and Cahill were really poor and his wages were huge for someone who wouldn't be playing. Will try and sign him as a coach though. Gundogan never wants to join as he 'doesn't want to play in England' except United lololololol!!!
 
Terry, despite his lack of pace, does immense job as CB (cover). Less tackling and physical work, more reading of the game.

Thiago has been immense for me as CM, playing as Chelsea. Chips in with assists and his defensive attributes have improved in the new patch.

ST, I'd like to recommend a certain youngster who scores for fun in game. Lukaku.
