Anyway, I think I did everything I wanted to do. Barca's tiki taka, and bayern. The two most successfull. One based on cotrolling the ball, the other based on controlling space.
So I was thinking, if barca returned to their old ways, and true tiki taka, they would have most of the ball. Anyone trying to beat them would have to setup their tactics not to rely on possession. And that's exactly what Bayern did and won.
So I was thinking how to beat a team that doesn't rely on possession? Counter the counterattackers? Bayern's biggest opponent today is probably Dortmund. Another counter attacking side. Anyone trying to win should use a defensive forward to press the opponents DM's, but Dortmund uses 2 DM's in a 4-2-3-1 deep formation, defending with two banks of two.
So you need another player there, either another defensive forward or an AMC. Someone needs to press the dlps. Dortmund uses only one dlps, so I guess the def. for could press him and the AMC the other DM. If there is no other DM, the AMC is free.
Which in my book means the end of classic 4-5-1 barca used, even if only against better teams using two banks of two. And prolly meaning Jupp's tactic was much better then current Guardiola's. My results after replicating those tactics also show this.
Point being, to be successfull in modern football in RL, you need to press every opposition player. Staying closer to them by playing it narrow and high, and compacting space and stopping their passing play starting from their back by using your striker is the key to success.
Which also means 4-2-3-1 deep is the best formation today, because it simply covers the most positions, and allows for effiecient pressing. It also means the end of starting attacks from the deep with clearing ball to flanks being the more preferable option.
Opinions?
