in the previous two editons of football manager ive been frustrated with the new tactics system, in my opinion why did they have to change from the old tactics system which was simple and worked. At the end of the day all we want to do is pick our favourite teams and our favourite players and see them score plenty of goals and win games. So i converted my tactics back to the classic way (the proper way, the championship manager/football manager way, the way ive done tactics since championship manager 93 way) and i set my formation to 442 but putting both wingers in attacking winger positions. After a slight tweak with team and player instructions ie: mentality to attacking, marking as man marking, time wasting as rarely and leaving the rest alone ive succeeded in finding a winnable formation. Simple is best and football manager should recognise that theirs players out there who've played this game (like me valued customers) for many years even since the old amiga days, who dont want to see the favourite game ruined by becoming to **** about training and tactics!!!!!

Im not saying (before i get bombarded with messages) that this is the right or wrong way to play but for me its a sigh of relief to see the likes of neymar for chelsea banging in 30+ goals a season using my simple but effective classic way of playing

thanks for reading

Which is why you've still got the option. If everyone had your philosophy games would go nowhere. I personally agree it is easier, whether that is better is a completely different story. It brings more in-depth philosophy, game plans etc to make the game primarily more realistic. Which is the main object of people developing a game like this. There's nothing wrong with using the simple classic way, likewise the more advanced tactic creator.

that is why they have both options for tactic creation...

If by "becoming ruined" you mean "Becoming more awesome" then I agree with you.

well if anyone can remember the old football manger/championship manager days like me then you'd see why i find the "new generation" of football manger so annoying. Who wants to spend hours watching barcelona getting beat at home 3-0 by minnow teams like racing because you've selected xavi as a complete midfielder instead of a attacking playmaker????????? How many options do i want for bojan???? is he a target man?? a poacher??? a complete forward?? defensive forward???? who cares?????? all i want is for him to play up front and score goals!!!! geezz imagine the clart on if this was fifa??? pick the team and get on with it thats what i say!!!!!! But i still and will always love this game and fair play to those who enjoy the new tactics system im currently playing with 51 nations loaded with over 100 leagues and more than 150000 players to buy im loving it!!!

this isnt fifa, this is trying to be a simulaton of real life, do you think all strikers in real life are the same? if so, you need to take a closer look at football.

your missing my point totally. ive played this game for many years and enjoyed it, however i feel games in general and this one in paticular try to enhance themselves but sometimes overstep the mark and i feel the new tactics system is very confusing, hard to find a winning formlula and unrealistic. I play at home against low division teams and get beat on many occasions.

i think fm just gets better every year. the changes add to the challenge, the more challenging it is, the better it is. it would be boring if it stayed the same.

i personally prefer the diamond formation , 4-1-2-1-2. 2 solid centre halfs, 2 good attacking fullbacks, with a workhorse defensive midfielder, a good creative attacking midfielder, 2 conventional line hugging wingers and two up front. a creative playmaker forward (10) and a real good finisher/poacher (9). with man marking and pressing utilised.

i've been pretty successful with this style of play, winning leagues, champions leagues and even the world cup with with england, thus i prefer the game getting harder, it adds longevity to it..

I think that you are wrong, but its just my opinion...I play since CM 2001 and I think that there was one time where the game did get a little worst but on the last years thinks have improved a lot! The detail as increase and of course that the difficulty as increased as well...BUT I LOVE IT GOD ****!:D
I love my 4-3-2-1 system, like Mourinho
sorry my English <)

I've found by just using the tactics creator to create your basic tactic then converting straight to classic the tactic is 10x better than the original tactic!

Fact is friend, there are so many ways to play this game that it keeps you thinking and on your toes. When it comes to how you play, you can play whichever way you find and feel that works. It's all about personal choice, because like all tactics, for some they work and for others they don't. for eg. wonder tactics and such.

I don't believe anything has been ruined here within the core of the game. And in my opinion and you look at it with a broad view it really does follow it's real life counterpart very well.

Bottom line is really, find what works for you and enjoy!! Sure no game is perfect but you have to admit the depth here is really amazing. I'm not a tactical genius and struggle there I don't mind saying, but it's really a great feeling to create your own tactic, using whatever instructions you have decided upon and win..
Winning all the time would make the game hollow and really unenjoyable, not to mention unrealistic. Just my opinion friend so please don't take this as a personal attack as it is not meant as such. Have fun and I'm glad your tactics work for you!!:D

the more choices the better

different teams may play 442 but another manager will want his players to have a different mentality and approach to the other team, even though they play on paper the same formation. otherwise whats the point of the game

I found it a good piece of writing,
but the points your making aren't very good at all :P
Sorry :)

If you don't like the new tactics system and you decided to use the old one instead, why are you complaining about it? Surely having two options is better than one? I could see why you'd complain if they took out the classic tactics altogether but you're just being absurd right now.

As someone said above, this is a football management game, so you have to manage your players and choosing their roles is key to this, don't complain!
