Club Reputation System

Can anyone please explain to me how the reputation system works?

I thought it was based mostly on how many trophies a club has won. Obviously major ones giving them more rep.

However, on my game I have seen this

Sporting are in 3rd place! (How im only second despite winning 15 league trophies and the Champions League 5 times. But thats another story)

But back to the question, here is Sportings history

They have literally won nothing. Their highest finish has been 4th in La Liga.

My question his, why? Is there something im missing in the reputation system? Or is this just FM going full ******?

Have Sporting had a tycoon takeover at some point in the game? I think that has some effect on club rep but I cant be too sure about that.

Yea if a tycoon takes over the club automatically shoots right up to the top. On my 2145 save Granada are 3rd and have never finished above 3rd in the league but have a rich owner
