Football fans watched in disbelief as a manager was stabbed six times on the touchline – by his older brother.

Yuksel Yesilova was knifed in the stomach and hip by Murat at a Turkish First Division match.

He had been watching the game from the stands before jumping over a wall to launch his frenzied attack.

Governor Huseyin Aksoy said Murat told police he did it because of “personal issues”.

Turkish media claimed it was a revenge attack after Yesilova, who was treated in hospital, had assaulted a member of Murat’s family. Yesilova denies the claim.

The game was suspended.

What a sick thing to do, stabbing your brother, who's also a Turkish First Division manager. It's obvious they don't get as much protection as others, but I believe the Turkish have the worst possible fans (no disrespect to any on the site).

When I first saw this I thought it might have been a fan for the opposition who stabbed him not his own brother. Thats just crazy.

And Some how we are expected to play European Games in this Country. What a joke, if this was england Uefa and Fifa would be all over us.

wow...FIFA and UEFA need to have a serious look at the security in matches before having games there

so they're brothers... and one of them attacked the other ones family?

isnt that just some guy attacking his own family?

and thus not having much to do with football other than it happened in a stadium, not sure what it has too do with fans

Not so much the fans, but how can a man be able to get into a ground with a knife, jump the barriers and approach the manager. all un opposed

This is one of the few incidents that will probably ever occur at this ground and I imagine the attack didn't have much to do with football. There is never much security in the dugout which ever ground you go to so I doubt FIFA and UEFA will take much of a look into it, if thinks like this happened often, only then would they decide to make appropriate changes.

agreed, but im wondered if he was able to circumvent security becuase his brother was manager? if he has come in like every other fan (and thus supposedly searched) then thats very worrying

Crazy. Anyone know what club it was?

Amazing he was (hopefully still is) alive after that. What a psycho!

Can I just point out this clearly isn't football hooliganism, this could have happened anywhere- however it certainly is one of the strangest articles I've read in a while.

I mean the guy was obviously insane, stabbing someone in front of TV cameras and thousands of people, certainly sending a message there. But still sick..
