Is it a good Idea? I am using Barcelona, Puyol has retired and my cb sergi Gomez was accidsentally released on a free *facepalm* Dont really have any outstanding youths so I was thinking of converting Javi Martinez into a Cb like Puyol but making him a BPD. Good Idea? He has 10 for acceleration but 16 for pace. Is that okay for the highest defensive line possible?

Post a screen-shot of Javi Martinez from your game. His mental stats are very important and unless his Marking Tackling, Stamina & Strength are 14/15+, I'd buy in a regular CB as while he is being retrained, he will be prone to error.

Martinez is fine as a cb...thats what he plays for Athletic in real life. I'm a big proponent of converting DMs to cbs (at a minimum to provide positional depth). I love my cbs to be able to maintain possession and not just blast the ball up field.

Try him out in the cup games or against weaker sides just to see how he adapts to the position but I see no reason why he can't be a success at CB. Be sure to adjust his training regime to retain him as fast as possible.

Done this before with Martinez, now I did it with De Rossi. Both are insane stoppers. I would not requere a high speed from a stopper.

Decent stats, just get his heading and marking up, should become a top CB.
