So the Board allocate me A director of football which I really don't need...What I really need is a Goalkeeper Coach which is far more important...So the big question here is how to convince them that I have other priorities...Has anyone managed to convince his board to get another staff member beyond what they allocate for him by default? And if so how did you do it...let us have this thread for this purpose...anyone manage to convince the board anythin post here...I would start by I managed to convince the board to find me a PARENT club...I told them its really important for me to use loan players without the need to pay for them...They asked me why I am putting my priority on loan players...I answered them that I promised they would be highly motivated for the benefit of the team...

I convince the board to take the club in the direction I want all the time. If they refuse,I usually reply with the "left behind our rivals" and they change their minds.
But it will be easier to get them to change their ways if you have been a manager at the club for a longer period of time and if your manager reputation if good.

That is very useful...What about the option of leaking the press..Has anyone here is leaking the press when they refuse...Tell us about it...

Well, nobody here talks with the board ever ?

I was refused my proposal in my first season with a 'professional playing' career and leaked it to the press in disgust. I had another meeting the day after about why I should stay, I answering honestly and I was fired the next day.

Fantastic info...I suspected leaking the media woud be a double edge sword....

Never have i managed to convince them for a new stadium.

I realised leaking to the media would screw it up. I have done it four or five times, and mostly caused me the sack.

2 ways in which the easier requests (aka not stadium expansion) would usually work.

1. Left behind by rivals
2. Apply for job in another club after being there in the club for 1-2 years and bringing success. The board is usually desperate to keep you and give you more concessions.

Thank you ..."The left behind by rivals" has already mentioned before...I guess it is the leading argument for now...

If you manage to be really chummy with your board, an option about "bringing you success in the past year" will come out at times. It's like a trump card that makes the board worship you and accept it as well. There's another variant too, but I can't remember the phrasing. Aka, if you see a response that is not your typical "left behind, really important, I can't say I don't understand", you should choose it for the highest chance of success.

Excellent info....

In relation to first post about getting a GK coach, I found a slight bug but helpful in these circumstances. I needed extra first team coaches but board said no. I had 4 slots for youth coaches so I found a GK coach and offered him position as U 19 coach. He accepted then once he joined my team I immediately offered him new contract as general GK coach. He accepted and board automatically increased my coach allowance to accommodate him.

I leaked to the press once the board refused to increase my transfer budget, they immediately increased it once it was leaked, think reputation has alot to do with it and your importance to the club i.e untouchable

So leaking has a predictable outcome if you calculate your status correctly...The more successful you are the higher the risk you would take with the board...

Yea,It was a very clever move...I just don't have vacant youth coaches post available...All my Goalkeepers are not happy with training just beacause I have only 1 star quality training to offer them and is my biggest staff problem at the moment....

Yup, I've been at the club and I'm a club icon, been at the club for 3-4 years, leaking to press has never caused board to react for me, though. Neither in negative nor in positive way. :D

Same here, in two occasions. Was ******** myself doing it the first time, thinking 'Here goes my job' :D
In one occasion, the first, the budget increased noticeably.. The second it was increased by.. You'll never guess.. 500k hahaha! And I was with Lazio.

Ps. Game is unrealistic, Claudio Lotito (Lazio boss) would never spend over 10M in a transfer window, let alone make 20+M transfer budgets available! In fact, the 500k increase was realistic xD

I wanted more transfer budget didnt get it leaked it to the press and hey presto they gave me 8m extra.

Palmeiras 2nd season btw having won a number of things and having a healthy 50m balance.

Being Left Behind by Your Rivals is a reasonable, standard, go-to response after a board request denial but in my experience it is significantly more effective if you are able to utilize a response or responses that play on the ongoing, already set, priorities of the club/board.
For example at Arsenal developing young players is a top priority so I generally have found success using choices that focus on that priority. While manager there I got 4 extra scouts by saying that the increased scouting knowledge was necessary to improve/maximize the club's intake of top youth players.
Separately, I was able to improve both training facilities (senior and youth) by stating that without the improvements players would fail to reach their full potential. All 3 of these request were initially declined by the board but were accepted following these responses. (FYI- All 3 of these requests were denied when I used the "we'll be left behind by our rivals" response though in the case of other board requests that response has worked, so I would say that it is a solid but not ideal response when the board initially denies your requests.)
So overall I think that if there is a way for you to align your requests and responses with the priorities of the club that are already set, this will provide you with the best chance to have the board approve your requests.
Good luck.
