Hey again guys,

You probably know me from the Gegen Pressing tactic with Dortmund, I've made during beta
(which you can find here: http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/shar...3-3-beautiful-football-borussia-dortmund.html)

Version 2: Shadow Striker

This tactic is much closer to what I am trying to achieve!
have made a major overhaul of this tactic and it works much better now. It might not be perfect, but it is as close I could get to counter-attack so far. Give it a try and tell me how it goes if you please.

We have a much stronger defense. Combination of counter mentality-drop deeper-stand off more seemed to be just too much and we were conciding too many goals from range.
Set pieces are also much improved. We almost never concede from corners again and we score quite some goals as well. Defensive Corners are now set up so they provide the perfect counter attack opportunity.
Movement of players is also improved.

Here is the tactic

Match training is Attack.
Wingers with good speed and off the ball is a must. The regista is another extremely important player in this tactic, he starts almost all the counter attacks.

Opponents instructions: show into weaker foot. Do set close down on anyone.

Hmm. Interesting. I play as NUFC currently using a 4-4-2 mostly, but have struggled against the big boys. Might use this as an away/underdog tactic.

Shittest tactic ever! I lost every game and got the sack! What a load of poo!

LOL if you want a decent counter attacking check out my counter attacking one.

Its not plug and play, you have to set it up yourself but it works brilliantly.

Ok, Im not going to argue here but your comment is totally useless. Put some SS, what players u are using etc.
How do you explain leading BPL if this is such a ****?

I am Sunderland, I have bought players for the future but they are not good enough for the first team yet so I have left them in the U-18 & U-21 squads respectively. So basically I am using Sunderlands current team that are on the game and looking at the players stats they definitely ain't the weakest side in the premier league compared to Burnley, Leicester, QPR, etc and I was still rock bottom and lost every game by big margins too! Sorry that I do not have any SS's but I ain't lying!

And I choose to have this formation because I'm a big Chelsea fan and they use that formation but I didn't want to be a big team, I wanted a challenge so I chose Sunderland. In real life Chelsea are dominating with this formation as they are still unbeaten! So I thought it would be the formation to have and I may not be getting good results now but when my youngsters get older, I will be dominating the premier league.

Hi tested this with a good fulham side in the championship.

New signings were:
Redmond
Balanta
Karl
Kana Biyik

Got the tactic nearly fully trained before the season started, pre season went ok only lost one game.
Then the season started I got 1 point from the first 10 games.

I found it worked a lot better when the T was dropped into the CM position as a Roaming Playmaker and the wingers where pushed forward.

I also added go route one and run at defence.

Un-beaten in 20 games

Good job!! As I said in my post, I encourage everyone to tweak the tactic depending on the players you have at your disposal.
I was also doubting whether I should set the AMC as TREQ as he doesn't do much defensively, but at least he is always available when on the break. Sometimes I change the TREQ to Adv playmaker.
Glad it works for you. You can also change the tempo from higher to lower as this will not affect the speed of the counter attack. It works well for me so far

I am still testing and tweaking, but I use a 4-2(DM)-3-1 formation. Counter attack, rigid. Team instructions: pass into space, whipped crosses, drop deeper, stick to position, close down less, lower tempo. I have misunderstood the tempo until now. After more readings, I've learned that the instruction TEMPO only applies when the team does not counter attack. When in a counter situation, the tempo is automatically increased and players make runs forward. Therefore I want lower tempo, so players choose their passes carefully when not on counter.
My center backs are both CD(D) with PI short passing, otherwise they are just hoofing the ball forward, which I want the DLP to do.
I observed that wingers on attack duty are caught offside too often and will tend to cross from byline (so run with the ball too much and lose precious time). Therefore I play with wingers on support duty.
I also observed that the defense is significantly stronger when playing with one of the DMs as an anchorman. The problem is what role to chose for the other one, who is supposed to be the deep creator. I am still thinking and testing (Regista, DLP-support or roaming play maker).
Another doubt I have is in the combination of the 2 attackers. I'm considering pairing of Target man(support)-Shadow striker, DLF(S)-Shadow Striker or totally different setup in Advanced Forward - Advanced Playmaker(attack/support; so far advanced playmaker on attack duty worked better for me.

So I have two unknowns:
1) What role should the deep creator have, the one who launches the counter attacks. So far I have the PI close down less and more direct passes on him.
2) What pairing to chose for the ST-AM. I think this one depends to some extend on the players available.

Best thing I have realized so far is a very strong defense. I keep repeating the same match and making adjustments here and there. With these team instructions from above, the defense works perfectly.
I will keep you upgraded and I hope for some advice from you guys as well.
