I have instructed my players to stand off more so that the opposition can come onto my team and then I can break on the counter. I'm assuming I need to have quicker width for this as it is currently set to default. My formation is 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 depending how you look at it.

I;m wondering with stand off closing down should players be set to tight or loose marking and what should their tackling be set to? I've kept all the other things default for the players particular role in the team.

Team Instructions
Philosophy: - Rigid
Strategy:- Counter
Passing:- Direct
Marking:- Zonal
Closing Down: Stand Off More
Roaming:- Stick To Position
Crossing:- Default
Tackling: Default
Freedom:- Disciplined

tackling normal and zonal marking, have the defensive players tight marking and others not tight marking.

The perfect (And most simple) counter-attacking strategy is the classic English 4-4-2

Have the back 4 set as a deep line with loose zonal marking, apart from the CBs (Leave their settings at default). Then have your 2 central midfielders set to tight zonal marking, and the 2 wide players with tight man marking (Tell them to man mark the opponents wingers if they have them)
