Coventry City FC appoint new manager
Coventry City FC have parted ways with Steven Pressley and have appointed an unknown American manager Jeremiah Walsh on a one year contract. Pressley had been in charge since March 2013 but following a disagreement with the board over wages, he was soon axed from the club.

This is Walshs' first venture into management having obtained his coaching badges a couple of years ago and holding a coaching role with the Wilmington Hammerhead in the USL Pro division, he looks set to take the club by storm. Coventry City sit at the bottom of League 1 with no games played, thanks to a 10 point deduction over the Ricoh Arena, and home games will be played at Northampton's Sixfields Stadium until the 1st of July, 2016.
"I'm very happy to be here at Coventry, it is a club with massive potential but these next few years will be tough as we have certain circumstances which are a burden at this time. I have a lot to prove to the board, whom I have to thank for giving me this opportunity, and to the fans themselves. I appreciate they were looking forward to a big-name manager taking charge of this club but I promise them I will do everything I can to bring Coventry back to where they belong."
The American - who has Welsh heritage from his father's side does have professional playing experience in England and in the United States. His career started at Middlesborough football club as a teenager where he played in the U21 side for 2 seasons before making his first team debut in 2003 in the EPL. During that season he was sold to Plymouth Argyle who we're playing in the Championship at that time and came into the starting 11 straight away. It was during his time at Plymouth that he blew his right knee out in the 2004/2005 season. He was sold during that summer after rehabbing the knee to the Columbus Crew but it was clear his knee was never the same. He retired in 2007 from football and got his coaching badges over the next 2 years. He joined the Wilmington Hammerheads staff in 2011 where he served as a coach on the staff until being appointed the new Sky Blues boss earlier today.
