hi,

i got a major problem with my team at the moment and that is that my *** manager always says : we're getting shot on goals but they're from too far to be a regular threat, or something like we only have shots from far, we should try to change that.

well i just can't manage to change this.. in my settings i got long shots on mixed, 2 on often (long shot 18-20) and some on rarely.

if i put most on rarely, i just see my players in the box @ 5m from the goal pass to a player outside the box.. does someone know how to change this?

The main reasons for players taking long shots or early shots are 2

  1. Players are put under too much pressure when in a position to make that final t-ball
  2. The player considers him self to be at the end of the move

My main point is that this is not an issue regarding your longshot settings
In the first example its often because the build up have been to slow and/or with too little movement in the last third of the build up, time-wise that is. Here, most of his team mates are high up in the pitch , standing still and being marked

In the second its mostly because the t-ball have been played to early and from deep, before the attacker has reached his "attack position" and before the team has moved up. Here most of his team mates are way behind the ball and your forwards are outnumbered

Have a look at the shots taken, can you see a pattern of which it is ?.At a first glance one would assume it's the first but one tactic can actually produce both scenarios depending on quality of players, morale, confidence and team gelling and the tacical approach of the opponent

nice this helped :)
i'm winning 3-0 at break time atm, with goals from in the box, no long range.

but my assistant still says we're only threatening from long range.. yeah well

what you need to do is constantly switch the team about... because the computer is using man marking but if you keep switching players the defenders will go with the same man taking them well out of position, which creates space for your players to run into.
