Creating a tactic

Can anyone give me tips on how to create and perfect a winning tactic? I've really struggled with fm14. There's nothing more satisfying than winning with a tactic you have created yourself to suit your team. I hate having to download other peoples tactics.

Ive read a couple of the tactical guides but I'm still struggling to get any consistency. Any advice and tips would be great. Thanks
 
Dont over complicate things, keep instructions to 5-7 max and dont mess around with player instructions to much either.
I have just developed a possession based 4-3-3 with 2 IF and a flat 3 in CM. I just though of how i wanted my team to play and developed it from there, tweaking it a little each game. WATCH THE FULL MATCH to see how ur team is playing and where it is going wrong. If u upload we can give you some more advice.

there should be a twelve step guide in the tactics section which helped me alot.

also a website i found helpful was passion4footballmanager

Agree with this... watch the match, check the match stats.
I give more instructions about 11 but is also able to get possession play, although I don't win every game, its nice to see good possession play.
I have 1 winger - get forward more and 1 IF to dribble more.. so I watch match to see if they are playing to instructions.
Also I check out the number of passes and completed pass and change roles if I find the player not doing well.
Tweat it for about 3 mths, I stick to the tactic until now.

With the new player and team instructions, it's easy to take a kid-in-a-sweet shop mentality and think 'I'll have some of that, some of this....oooh! That sound's great!' and so on. Before you start making a tactic, set yourself a team ethos (tempo, style of passing, pressing levels, possession, stuff like that), then it's much easier to pick the instructions you NEED rather than the the ones you think might work.
