Hello there, I've been a long time reader but not a poster but I have a bit of a problem at the moment. I've made a new tactic after reading the TTF theorems from this site, it's a tactic which relies on my wing backs as my only source of width and crossing but I don't want them running too far in field to cross the ball as we're then susceptible to a counter attack. So which one of these crossing options is the earliest? Does deep mean they'll run further in field to make the cross? It's set on Byline at the moment and its working well but I'm still not sure what option is the least furthest up the pitch. Thanks in advance.

Byline means, from last I read, to dribble the opposition first and then make the cross. Deep cross before dribbling.

For what you want, deep would be the option.

Deep:
· they won't try to go past their defenders and send the ball to the box.
+ they won't risk losing the ball in the dribble and have to catch up with the robber that might well be behind them
+ in front of opponent to have chances to block counter attack starting from him
- lots of blocked crosses
- less accuracy to the crosses.

Byline:
· they'll try to drible their defenders to have a clean cross.
+ more accurate
+ no defender to block
- may be robbed of the ball in the attempt and their mark be clear to make a pass to start counter attack.

Go by what your players forward runs are,ie:

Forward runs rare.....Cross from deep.

Forward runs Mixed...Cross from mixed.

Forward runs often...Cross from byline.

Its very much common sense really.

mix it up
please help me in my need help thread i know i shouldnt say this but i have sent several privaate msgs and no replies

Thanks for the replies Death Ball and JP Woody I understand it now. Conor I've replied to your thread as have some others, I can't make it any clearer then they already have but you do need winrar.
