For many years now, Red Star Belgrade (Crvena zvezda) have been in financial turmoil, which can be emphasized in the fact that despite winning the Serbian League in the 2013/14 season they were not allowed to enter the following season's Champion's League competition. It was alleged that players had not been paid for many months, and along with some other incidents this lead to them not meeting the Financial Fair Play criteria needed to be granted a UEFA licence. Arch rivals Partizan consequently took Red Star's place in the UCL.
This was such a travesty for such a renowned club... how could a side that won the competition 23 years ago not be granted a licence to even enter it? And even worse the enemy, with whom the eternal derby is shared, were given the place which Red Star had earned.
In this save I will be hoping to first of all sort out the club's awful financial situation, in order to ensure that an event such as the one mentioned above never occurs again. Following on from this, I would like to regain the title as the best team in Serbia from Partizan who have won all but two of the SuperLeague's so far.
As the club is blessed with such fine youth facilities and players (youth recruitment is the top on the game), I am hoping that in the long term we can develop some fantastic talents, which we can either sell on, or help guide us to that crucial 2nd Champions Leagu
