I have been interested In doing what looks like a very challenging game of being Crystal Palace for quite a while now so here goes.........

My objectives for this game are to take Crystal Palace to league and cup glory, to become an Eagles legend. First things first however theres a small matter of Premier League survival......

Pre-season
Concentrate on Youth

I left the team in the hands of my assistant manager for all of my friendly matches, this way I could really focus on assessing the first team squad, youth team squad and keeping a keen eye on which of those hot prospects may have a chance of helping fight for survival this season.

Pre-season results were hit and miss really, are 3 wins were accompanied by a hat full of goals and 3 clean sheets however the opposition were clearly a lot weaker than us, suffered a heavy loss at the hands of Valencia however that was definitely to be expected, the loss to Mirandes, an average Liga Adelante team was disappointing but to come out of pre-season with no new injuries and a squad full of fit players was the main aim, and this we achieved. Ready to kick off the season with games at Man City and Liverpool, looks like we will have no rest bite going into a long hard slog of a campaign.

A great result to start the season, a big surprise to me and the pundits alike. Very pleased with an away win at the champions elect.

What can I say, an amazing follow up to a great win in the previous match, not only did we come away with the win we absolutely dominated the match from the start to the finish, lets hope this early form can continue.

I made the choice to rest most of the team that starting in the premier league matches,I knew this would be risky however the lads played well and came up with the result, hopefully a run in the cup won't hinder us in our bid for survival. Next up Bristol City...

This was certainaly a result to bring us back down to earth, i will admit i was slightly disappointed after the opening two games but the players had an off day and Aston Villa made us pay for our mistakes.

Never expected this...

Jason Puncheon

The award could only really go to one man, chipping in with no less than 4 goals and 2 assists in 4 matches.

Transfers
Plenty of outgoings

Bringing in Christie and Boyata as backup for the first team, No fewer than 33 players left the club, a lot of deadwood released to free up some finance for the future and a lot of youngsters loaned out to lower league clubs seeking first team football, hopefully this will help with some breakthroughs next season.

Any feedback at all is much appreciated, let me know wether I should carry the story on or give it up, cheers

I enjoy your formatting. i think you should continue with the story

Keep going, it's looking good, I'll follow when I have the time to look at manager stories.

Cheers, will do, thanks it's my first attempt at a story so hopefully it will be well followed!

Started off the month with a nice win against a team that I expected to be fighting with at the foot of the table come the end of the season, had an unfortunate injury to Jon Williams who will now be out for 6 weeks.

With how the season has started this was quite disappointing really, however losing to a strong Southampton team is nothing to worry about, the performance was poor however and i was left wondering wether the honeymoon was possibly over.

I played some of the fringe players in this match again as i did against ipswich in the previous round, with this competition not being my main focus this season i want to use it as an opportunity to break in some young blood for next season. However they played a good game and we move on the a 4th round tie with Stoke.

Another good win against another team i expect to fighting it out with this season, Yannick Bolasie is finally back to full fitness following injury and this adds more depth to a thin squad of players which is pleasing and he chipped in here with a good performance.

Player of the month
Dedryck Boyata

The award this month was a close call but i give it to Boyata, he initially came in as cover however stringing together a few good performance and 2 goals he will be pushing for a first team place in coming weeks.

A disappointing beginning to the month, we really dominated this match in every aspect but just couldn't seem to put the ball in the net when it came to it, conceded to 2 set pieces, usual Stoke goals.

Much of the same as the previous match really, didn't play badly but just failed to take chances, might need to look if we can bring in another forward in January, its difficult to trust Chamakh.

Very happy with an away victory here, i was beginning to think thing were going off the rails and the good start has come to an end, but we managed to come out on top in end, I saw this as a must win, with my next 3 league games against Arsenal, Man Utd and Everton, things don't get any easier.

Got my revenge on Stoke this time, and it was us who scored from a couple of set pieces, beat them at there own game. With a few of my fringe players out injured I fielded close to a full strength team, I said all along that the competition wasn't a focus, but now we are in the last 8, its starting to gain my interest. Derby await in the Quarters...

Has been a revelation between the sticks this month keeping two clean sheets in the wins and limiting opposition in the two losses, everyone else agreed aswel as he picked up 2nd place in Premiership player of the month.

I enjoy looking at that result against Bristol City (I'm a Bristol Rovers supporter and City are the main rivals), great match for it and good month, keep it up.

I will be updating November later tonight, hope everyone is reading up till now?

A decent start to the month with a well earn point at a much bigger team, the term "Bore Draw" was definitely present with neither team even posting a shot on target.

View attachment 385128
A difficult game at the champions and the current premiership pace setters, we were never really in the match at any point, the injury to Jedinak was to be the first of many sidelined midfielders in the coming months.

View attachment 385126
Another loss this month at the hands of another good team and another injury to an important first team player in Dikgacoi, another game we weren't ever be able to get a grip in and everton cruised to any easy win.

View attachment 385122
This was the most disappointing result of all for me at a struggling west brom team, i really felt i should have got the win against them but we just could not find the net after dominating the game. Jon Williams, another CM injured.

Still going well...

No player really stood out this month and therefore the award goes unrecieved.

We played well to record a draw at home to a strong Chelsea side and came away rueing missed chances to get the win in the end, continuing from an unlucky November yet another midfielder got injured in Bolasie.

View attachment 384996
Sorry about mssing the top of the screenshot, oops. This finished in a 2-2 draw away at cardiff, which i found quite disappointing after controlling the entire match, seems to be a common theme this season, controlling the match but not being able to hit the net regular enough. Guess what? Another CM injured.

View attachment 384995
Played really well at home against Hull, Barry Bannan had had to be promoted from the reserves and the transfer list as he is my last remaining fit CM, he went on to pull all the string in the middle of midfield to help us cruise to a simple victory.

View attachment 384994
Were in the to the Semi's, i never expected that at the start of the season when i was playing the youth players in games, start to take the competition more seriously now and we move on to a Semi Final at QPR. Do we dare to dream.

View attachment 384993
Not much to say about this game really, neither side ever looked like scoring and a bore draw was inevitable from the start really.

View attachment 384992
Really happy with this result to end december, since Barry Bannan has come into the team he has been a revelation setting up 2 goals for Gayle on his first start of the season. Nice to have players on the bench raring to go at any opportunity .

Since coming into the team this month due to first team injuries he has been fantastic, looking like he is capable of bossing any match, hopefully it continues.
