Custom Kits

I'm about to embark on a save with Bromley but before I start I wanted to get some kits done. I made three kits - home, away and third - for the glorious Bromley fc, but since Bromley don't actually have a third kit in the game, I didn't know if it would work and if it would ever be used? Also i was wondering about the colours for 2d match view, will it pick up the colours from the kits (it's a long shot) or do I have to set them myself? Bromley currently have a white home strip and red away; with my kits i've got white home, black away and red third. So yeah, will it sort itself out? or the more likely question being: how to do i edit the colours for 2d?
