Curious to know if anyone has done the research about lower league management, database sizes and how those affect the transfer market and you trying to loan/sell players.

Does having a larger database make things wonky as in harder to sell a player? i would like to think have a very larger database would be more realistic but i could be wrong.

Cheers

Whatever level you play at, the 'realism' will be impacted by the ratio between number of players in the database and number of active clubs. I don;t know if there is a real 'sweet spot' to hit, if so, I guess it would probably be the 'default' setting on start up.
Essentially, if you have a large database, you will need a larger number of active leagues and clubs to support a healthy transfer market. Get it wrong, too many players/not enough clubs, and it will be harder to sell, but easy to buy players. The opposite, too many clubs/not enough players and it will be harder to buy and easy to sell.

I started unemployed with nearly bare minimum stats and want to coach lower league UK so I currently have all leagues in UK 'playable' and the rest of the leagues in the game 'view only' with around 280,000 players loaded. If you think it's a terrible set up then please let me know. Still trying to figure out the sweet balance. Sorta modeled off of Zealand video I watched

The 'Playable' leagues will, as I understand it, be more active with transfers than the view-only ones. Effectively you have 280,000 players available to fill the squads of all the UK teams.

I would guess that you will struggle to off-load players for decent money, but fairly easy to buy-in.

Hmm. Well in lower leagues there are a lot on non-contract players so offloading isn't a worry just yet but will be as time goes on.

Is there a way to reduce the players loaded mid-save? Or best way to combat it is to load more playable leagues mid-save?

I'm not sure to be honest. If you are playing below the Vanarama N/S then it is a fan-built database, so may behave a little differently.
As far as altering the database size, I think you can, using either method, but I'm not sure how t o go about it - and I'm not at my FM machine just now to look but whatever changes you make won't be apparent until the following season rollover date.

Yes. I have no fanbase leagues loaded and having changes take affect next season is fine. I'll give it a go and see what happens. Appreciate it!
