Default Database Not Found Corrupt Installation

I recently purchased this game and downloaded it off of Steam. As soon as I open it I receive a pop up that says my Installation may be corrupt because no default database has been found. Upon clicking "ok" the game loads up but once I click on "start a new game" I receive the same pop up again.

I am running on a MAC and I went into the DB folder and found nothing. It was empty, as were the other folders. Whats going on?

I've tried the following:

- Uninstalling and Re-Installing FM 2012 (over 6 times)
- Verifying the cache and closing steam, re-opening Steam and verifying the cache again...to no avail
- Uninstalling Steam altogether and re-installing it

Please help, I really want to play and I'm so annoyed that I can't find any solution for this online.

had same problem i even downloaded digital version so I've payed twice! tried emailing sega and they stopped replying after the 1st two " uninstall blah blah blah " e-mails so also running on a mac
