This should serve as a discussion thread.

Hello friends.

Whilst the discussion from this thread may serve useful to me, I also feel that this is a provocative discussion which some fm players may find useful!

When you have chosen what team you and going to manage and you have made all your fantastic pre-season summer signings, it is time to get on to the business of tactics. How will you employ your new players together with your original squad, and create a tactic which will get the best out of year team and be effective against the big dogs.

For those of us who dont like classic tactics unless downloading MR.Houghs latest masterpeice!......

-What do you find is the most effective way of making tactics?

-Do you use the tactic creator and leave the preset positions untouched? ( is the tactic creator that powerful)

-Do you use the tactic creator and tweak to your liking?

-What is most interesting is, do you use the "default- set to formation" tactics which come with the game?
( i have heard many people including jp woody state that they simply went plug and play with a default 442 diamond and won the league)

For lower league teams I usually use quite an attacking formation, 433/424 depending on the players the team has.
Most of the bigger clubs I use though I drop to a 532. Flat 3 at the back and two wing backs sitting either side of a 1/2 defensive midfielders, two strikers with 2/1 attacking midfielders behind them.

Again the number of Attacking/Defensive midfielders changes depending on the quality of the defenders at the club already.
Once i've figured out which I plan to use I then start to make signings base on the key positions I most need.

I see! But do you solely rely on the preset play roles or do you tweak to your liking? Also do you make the tactic through the tactic creator or do you just set up the default tactic using the " set to formation" drop down list?
