To stop this being closed ive looked through all the relevant threads on this subject with no luck.

Im having defensive issues with my Birmingham team. I have issues holding on to leads and normally end up drawing. I play a fluid tactic and have a strong team but my defence seem to be leaking goals and wingers that cut inside seem to score a lot and through balls between strike partnerships are also an issue. I use touchline shouts-tightly mark, close down and show onto weaker foot strikers and attacking midfielders and close down and show onto weaker feet on wingers and normal defenders. Im not sure if i should change my fullbacks to full backs but if i do that i feel like im loosing attacking width. Im also wondering if i should change Sandro's role as he has good technical ability and i feel if im using him an anchorman or Defensive mid-defend im hindering his technical ability. Im also having problems with Otamendi he seems to play bad every game and is getting fives and and sixes at half time and i have to say im angry to get a 6.7 by full time. My defence is

Camilo Zuniga- Wing Back
Otamendi-Cb-Cover
Subotic-Cb-Stopper
Bale-Wing Back
Sandro-Defensive Midfielder-Support

I would try changing the CB-s to limited defenders, it has worked for me when my defenders are caught out of position often. Goes especially for young players who aren't mentally strong yet. And unless you have another midfielder on defend duty, change Sandro's duty to defend. He has technical skill but his mental stats are better for defending.

Thanks mate. Would you say i should use touchline shouts and should i change my wing backs to full backs?

Well I only use shouts when I need to attack to get a goal (retain possession, work ball into box, pass to space/feet). I wouldn't necessarily change the wing backs to full backs (do you play them in the wing back position or in full back position and with wing back role) as long as they have defensive responsibilities(automatic instead of fully attacking).

I meant opposition instructions instead of touchline shouts and i use my full backs as full backs with the wing back role

I let my assistant manager (Jon Andoni Goikoetxea - I recommend) take care of the OIs and teamtalks, don't pay a lot of attention to them myself. And I usually have my back four set up the same way but in your case it might be that your defenders are trying to play over their heads and have less support from midfield.
