I am currently playing as Leeds in the Championship and as you can see from my fixtures despite winning most of them I tend to let in a lot of goals, and I think nearly every game I have played, I have only won by One goal which is rather shocking to be fair and even though I shouldnt be complaining considering i'm winning it would be nice to tighten up the defence haha.

This is my Tactic, 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 depending on how you look at it.

...and these are my main centre backs, as you can see.

and my match training is always set on def. positioning if that's any use haha.

If anyone can offer any advice that would be greatly appreciated, thankyou.

try switching the CDM to Half back or Anchor, then make one CD Stopper and the other CD as Cover, that will bulk the line up a bit, stop so many through balls slipping through. Also, set the fullbacks as wingbacks on support duty, not automatic.

The BWM at DCM is a liability as he will leave his position to chase his man.

I personally only play Anchor Man or DLPs at DCM (my style, not saying it's correct).

Seeing as you're playing with advanced wingers, I'd keep the FB's set as full backs as you need the cover.

I wouldn't play a stopper/cover pair as you have a DCM. the stopper and DCM will both mark the same area of the pitch creating overlaps for the opposition to attack

I'd personally set up the team as follows

GK -

RB/LB - Full back; support.

CBs - If your CBs have low composure or decisions, Limited Defender.

DCM - Deep plying play-maker/Anchorman.
If playing an anchor man, I'd switch the Full Backs role to (Attacking) to take advantage of what essential has become a back 3 instead of a back 2.

If a DLP, you want the Full Backs being support/defend to offer him passing options to go wide if the opposition are pressing high up the pitch.

CMs - I'd personally go with two Central Midfield roles; Defend/Support.

Wings - Wingers
Support: If you want your wingers to go wide and cross.
Attack: If you want your wingers to try take on the man, run towards goal and be a goal threat.

A lone striker should always be a F9 or a DLF(Support) in my opinion. You'll need him to hold up the ball, pass it back into midfield to allow the wingers to run into space.

BWM as Support is bad. He wants to get the ball near half. If he misses, it could be bad. I use BWM-D.

yer agree with only using anchor man think makelele won chelsea the league im using same formation with atletico miniero but have ticked more disciplined team instruction best defence in league and currently 5 games not conceding 14 or 15 goals conceded out of bout 23 games i think stopper cover works well against one striker but risky against 2 forwards but with ancor man just 2 on defend duty workks well

basically, if you want to use a BWM, he has to actually be in mid field, not defensive midfield, when i use three in CM, i always have one DLP defense, BWM defense and box to box support, that way you have most basses cover and with the defense i suggested, you will have a solid defense. With the tactic i use, i have only conceded 5 goals in 15 games and scored 30.

A BWM-DCM is only useful if they are playing with a particularly troubling ACM and you need to put him under pressure to stop him running the game.
I can't think of any other reason to play a BWM there.

iota4u, can you give some screenshots of your tactic?
that would be great

at work atm, won't be home till very late (i drew the short straw /cry ) anyway, basicalliy, how i have my tactic set out is lke this:

----F9-----
-IF A----- IF S--

--B2B S-- BWM D-- DLP D--

WB s - CD Stopper--CD Cover-- WB s

---------SK-----

The d's are for defend and the S's are for Support, both Cd's are onb defense duties, naturally, but as stopper and cover, i use sweeper keepers, my preference. For the shouts etc, pretty much just possession based ones, so lower tempo etc, also use the offside trap, look for overlaps etc. For individual roles i have the WB's set to stay wide and cross from deep - far post if possible, i have the keepr set to distribute to defenders, i have them all hassle opponents, mark tighter and close down more (lowers the foul count) the f9 i have on hold the ball, the inside forwards are set to be able to swap sides if they wish, dribble more, shoot more, direct passing. the B2B is on dribble more, roam from position.

err.. that's all i can remember off of the top of my head. I'll upload it when i refine it etc.

Wow, thanks guys I didn't expect to get so much support haha, i'll make some changes now and tell you how it goes, thankyou

**** THAT ALL XD middle field players set to close down more and tight mark.....and defence just to tight mark.....middle field players will close down enemy and make them pass...if they pass to players that are near your defenders....your defenders will be very close to enemy and they will just run in front of them and pick up balls before they do ....simple :D

man marking will pull your players out of shape massively one through ball and it could b goodnite

looks like changing the bwm to an anchorman didn't prove to useful hahah and i am just gonna switch back haha, is there any known tactics to use with this formation to tighten up the defense maybe? i have lost quite a few since changing the tactic:(View attachment 441322
