Hi guys!
Introduction

Long time I haven't start a story. Had some moderate success this far with this FM, discovering the joy of making my own tactics.
Now, for this story, I want to be able to create a defensive monster, as this is the kind of football that I like the most. I mean, I also like the German approach (fast counter with high strength and high physical qualities, generally). I'm thinking in the likes of Klopp, Heynckes and good sides from the past.
However, the kind of football that I really like is defensive, controlling the play and don't let opponent create much (if any!) chance. Here, my mentors are Capello, Trapattoni, Mourinho and now Simeone. Teams that are really hard to break down, very cohesive and truly a team. I consider myself a student of the game and this was definitely the type of football that I'd want in my team, if I became a manager (and I will!!). I want to put this in FM. A perfect practical example of this is Milan under Capello in 93/94 won the League with 36 goals scored and only 15 conceded. I know, different times, different ideas, different football but this is the aim.
However I don't know with which team to start this. And this is where you guys come in. My idea is to start with a team that is recognized by an attacking mentality and by the idea "if you score 2, I'll score 3". However, I'd also like to start with an underdog and become a very tough side to beat (like Pullis in Palace). So, please, if you have the kindness to vote in this and express your opinion, I'll be very pleased and thankful.

Teams

  1. Arsenal. They seem to be perfect for this. Recognized by a certain brand of football, very poor in the defensive part of the game, some "egos", not playing as a team, etc. Manage Ozil is also on the list of positive points;
  2. Spurs. Another perfect team to this. Recognized by the attacking play and huge amount of goals, they seemed very poor defensively in the last couple of years and not playing as a collective unit. Here, make Eriksen and Lamela perform will be my great task;
  3. Villa. Martin O'Neill showed that with a truly organized team, with everyone knowing their job, good things can be achieved. IMO, Villa have a better squad than it looks at first glance and it would be nice to give them another approach;
  4. Leverkusen. The prospect of overcome the 2 big sides in Germany is very tempting. This club should be nice team to do this, showing that an organized side and a true team can beat the millions and talent superior teams;
  5. Fulham. Craven Cottage seems to be such a charismatic place to go that it's a shame that Fulham have been relegated. Like the neighbors of Palace, the idea is to build a fortress at home and work our way up.
  6. Milan. And finally, the most difficult one IMO. In a club full of egos, with everyone playing for their own, it would be nice to restore some glory and make this a true team like the ones in the past, full of great leaders with charisma and passion for the club (heard that Mario? Good). Might take several seasons to achieve what I want but it's tempting.
  7. Other options. If you have other suggestions that might be good to play with, just throw them and we'll see what we can do.
Conclusion

I won't have any special constraints. So players from all over the world can be brought and from all ages. However, I'll try to build a philosophy in one of this clubs (staff, youth, etc). So, at least, 3-4 season in each club will be required. Might have the case of receiving better offers and then I'll decide what to do. But the main purposes will be transversal to all of it.
I think this is all for now. Any thing you'd like to enhance/say/etc just do it. I'm all ears.

Cheers

maybe liverpool or bayern, both are good at attacking bt weak defensively

I love the idea of this. I prefer to play this way too, rather than all out attack, play for the clean sheet first. Go for Leverkusen or Milan

Thanks for your answers guys. Glad that I have your interest.

Interest choices that you made. Never thought about Stoke. They seem to have good players for this approach. It's something to consider. Also, Liverpool and Bayern are out of the possible choices. Liverpool because it is an obvious choice and I don't feel much motivated to do that. And Bayern have an already super strong team. In fact, they have good players for this (technical, strong, quick and good passers) but for me it is much more motivating overcome them and build success with a less quoted team. I'll look at the Monchengladbach team and see what I think.

@Timmzeh,

Sure, I'll post my tactic, when the poll is over. I'm planning to do this in a detailed way and make this story a tactical journey too to generate discussion and opinions.

I voted for Milan, it would be fun to see you recreating the old days. Also the league is 'appropriate' to this kind of football.

@jukilo, Yeah cheers, I have tried this before, been pretty tough though, especially if you are aiming to concede 15 like Capello at Milan for example. Looking forward to seeing who you choose.

Decide to give this a bump to get new opinions and votes.

Decided to start with Fulham. Swansea has much better players but this will be a more tough challenge. Also, Holtby and Parker were immense for me at Spurs (FM13) and I want to play with them. Mitroglou impressed me as well in this year CL against Benfica.

Also, one part of the game that I don't manage quite well is the transfer market (players to buy/loan/etc). Does anyone have some tips of good players? I'm looking for a more paced CB, a decent winger (Kacaniklic has good technical attributes but is mental attributes are somewhat... bad) and maybe a runner for my central midfield (I'm thinking about Whittingham but he'll be too expensive I guess). I'm looking for good business especially because Fulham's finances for the future.
Another thing to look out will be the finances of the club. Maybe I'll have to cancel some loans in order to keep this more tight.

More details later on. I don't promise quite spectacular results but will try to make something different on here (more tactical and less talk). Keep tuned guys!
