Tottenham have been dealt another injury blow resulting from one of their players being on England duty as striker Jermain Defoe has been ruled out for six weeks with an ankle injury.

Defoe could be seen on crutches and wearing a protective boot on his right foot at Spurs' training ground on Thursday.

"Even if it's a bad sprain, you're still talking about six weeks or so, because it's a nasty one," Spurs manager Harry Redknapp said.

Defoe was hurt in England's 3-1 victory over Switzerland on Tuesday, just days after Tottenham team-mate Michael Dawson suffered a knee injury in the England win over Bulgaria that will rule him out for eight weeks.

Owned. Think they will miss him, he's probably there best striker, atleast on current form.

Spurs' best striker without doubt. Big blow for them.

Time for Pav to step it up...

Should play:
Gomes
Corluka Gallas King Bale
Hudd Palacios/Sandro
Lennon VDV Modric
Pav/Crouch

14 Sept - Werder Bremen (a)
29 Sept - FC Twente (h)
20 Oct - Inter Milan (a)

Definatly miss them fixtures and could miss the home game against Inter on the 2nd November, big blow for Tottenham and Defoe, feel more sorry for defoe though, im sure he would have been relishing the games, same as Micheal Dawson, but Pav should fill his boots, doubt they'd play 2 up front for the away games anyway, too much of a risk of getting run in the middle of the park.

yes he is their best striker but like i said about City they have a big enough squad so for me no excuses.

feel sorry for both him and Dawson as they played a big part in getting spurs into the champs league and now they are going to be missing a lot of the matches.

Defoe & Dawson; what wretched luck for Tott-en-ham. In ****** international games too - insult to injury ( no pun intended ).

It's a blow, but we should be ok short term. None of our strikers have blown the Premier League away so far this season (2 goals scored, and both of them by Gareth Bale) so this could be a good opportunity for someone else to step in and stake their claim for a regular starting place. Get a good rest Jermaine -- we'll need you firing on all cylinders later on in the season.

Play a 4-2-3-1 with Pavlyuchenko up front on his own in Defoe's absence, and see how we do.

At least try it for a game against weaker opposition and see how well we dictate play under a new system.

It's the perfect opportunity for Harry to try and adapt to accommodate our ridiculous amount of midfielders, and lack of forwards.

I just hope VDV and Pav can hit the ball rolling, we're gonna need them to be playing on top of their game if were to do well in the champions league

Sad :'(
Pavlyuchenko has big shoes to fill.

As far as Dawson's injury, time for Kaboul or King to step up.
