I know this isn't strictly 2014 related, but would you consider the role that Bergkamp played at Arsenal to be that of a DLF or Trequartista?

****! I forgot about the new roles this year! I still haven't got the game so I've been dreaming up tactics in advance and forgot about the new striker roles. In that case, could you possibly paste a description of the Second Striker's role in FM here so I can have a look? How would you say it differs from that of Treq/DLF and what specifically makes it more applicable to Bergkamp (I do agree Second Striker best describes his role but haven't seen it in FM yet)?

Sorry, I mean't to put Shadow Striker. Basically it's the role that Ozil plays for Arsenal now.

Doesn't Ozil play exclusively in the hole, though, as a more modern advanced playmaker (moving into channels)? As opposed to playing in a two man strike force and dropping off into the space, as was Bergkamp's tendency. If the choice was merely between describing his role as a Deep-lying forward or a trequartista, which would you say?

Completely in non-Fm terms, I'd say at his peak, especially the 97/98 season. I would have to say a Treq.

(I have no idea on the new striker roles for 14 either)

Complete forward for me as he was lone striker from time to time and he was good in air dropped deep and got poachers goals he had it all!

I think he was too slight to be considered a complete forward (although what he lacked in strength he made up for in aggression, lol), and also I'm thinking mostly of the Invincibles era when he was paired up front with Henry. I'd be inclined to say trequartista, for the same reason as why I wouldn't consider him a CF.

Deep lying forward or a trequartista.

He wasn't a shadow striker since he wasn't focused on scoring goals, he wasn't a complete forward since he lacked all-round ability, and he wasn't a false nine since he rarely played alone up front
