Determination Dropping

I had noticed this a few times when i've been tutoring my regens, their determination stat drops gradually. Now i was wondering if this is A because i'm tutoring them, or is it something to do with the other players determination too?

Say Player A has a determination of 15

and Youngster A has a determination of 17

Will youngster A's determination go down because he's been tutored by someone who has a lesser attribute, or is it unrelated to that?
