Difference between roles overview and position strength

Hi,

When I go to team report and squad depth. There are 3 tabs: Strength overview, position strength, and roles overview, and all the players have star ratings in each. But each player has a different rating in each (even when he is a cb in each). So what is the difference? Basically, I want to use it to see how good the player is, and to compare let's say 3 cb's and decide which 2 to begin.

The first 2 are just for positions (DC, MC etc.) and your players should have the same rating for each of these. Roles overview shows you the specific roles your players are comfortable playing within these positions (Ball winning midfielder, deep lying playmaker). Who you start depends on what roles you've set up in your tactics. Obviously someone like michael essien is gonna be more comfortable as a ball winner than as a playmaker; thats what the roles overview tab shows you.
