Daniel Feliciano today was presented as the new Benfica manager, after former manager Fernando Costa Manuel Santos recommended the youngster to the board after his departure.
The ex manager left earlier this week so he could spend time with his wife and children, and said there was nobody better to fill the void.
Feliciano has previous experience with Newcastle United, having taken them to Europe within 3 seasons of their relegation to the Championship. But today he returned to his native Portugal and will be looking to give his team the title and European glory.

Steven Taylor completes deal

Daniel Feliciano completed his first signing as Benfica manager today, with Steven Taylor joining the Liga Sagres club. The former Newcastle captain completed his £4.4M move to Benfica on a 3 year deal and will be looking to play "with his heart on his sleeve" for the Lisbon club.
In other news, Benfica target Lacina Traore snubbed Feliciano's men by opting for Barcelona instead in a £3.4M deal.

Feliciano is said to have a number of targets, but is refusing to name them until the signings are nearer to completion.

Ai, Ai, Ai!

Benfica were rocked today by news that Pablo Aimar will be out for 4 months with a torn calf muscle. The playmaker, was earmarked as having a key role in new manager Daniel Feliciano's team but he will now have to find an alternative "main man".

In good news at the Estadio da Luz, Lauren the former Arsenal full back, completed his free transfer to the Lisbon giants.

Good Pre-Season, disappointed with the defeat but it's early days.
Saviola also out now for 4-5 weeks but I think we have more than enough options up front to be able to cope with his loss.

Superb Start for Benfica​

Excellent start. 3 first half goals and then we appeared to sit off them which I wasn't best pleased about. But we kept our shape throughout the game and continuously created chances, some which we definately should've taken.

Benfica completely dominated this match and fully deserved their win. Only downer to this game being Javi Garcia's red card for two yellows, maybe suggesting I should lower the aggression of the team. Excellent first leg result and very pleased with the clean sheet.
