Got Aguero on "Shooting less" and match instructions are "Work ball into the box" but he is still being an ambitious little ****** and shooting from miles away when i actually want him to run with the ball and g 1v1.

Anyone else had trouble?

If a player has a prefered move he will keep doing it no matter what you will instruct him...

along with ppm, you have to consider the player's CF and passing options.

He has the shoot from distance prefered move, cant i tell him to forget that?

My form has gone right down hill, cant win a chess match against Rray Charles the way im playing

You can try, but it's unlikely he will unlearn it, especially at that age.

And what is it about chess and Ray Charles at the moment? That's the 2nd reference I've heard in two days on this site!

Well,he is blind but still can beat them...The only way for a player to loose a prefered move is to train him to stop doing that...I have a goalkeeper who is eccentric that I train him not "try to play way out of trouble"..which means he dribble in the penalty area to get out of trouble...

I know he's blind, but still not exactly usual for 2 people to mention him on a football manager forum in 2 days...
And I also know the only way to get a player to unlearn a PPM is through training, but it isn't always succesful, especially not in older players :)

how do i set prefered move training?

In the players individual training tab, go on new preferred move training, and in this case go on shooting and 'ask <Player name> to stop trying to shoot from distance" (Or something along those lines)

He's a striker! He's going to have shots on goal jeez its almost as if you don't want your strikers to score. You never heard the phrase "you don't shoot you don't score"?

the "takes long shots" ppm is the single worst part of the game currently.

exactly!!!. I was playing Man City, and i want aguero to be like messi, but he keeps shooting long shots. End up quitting Man City

I wan't my strikers to get in good positions and shoot, not **** it every time they get it within sight of the goal posts.

So you don't instruct team to "shoot on sight" but "work ball into box"....

Which doesn't affect players with the Shoots from Distance PPM...
I would dare to say that if a player positioned at the field correctly with his right foot as LCM(left centre midfield) for example...and you instruct team to work ball into box...And this player has decent Technique...And he has decent Decisions....And he has decent Creativity...well... let him shoot and see...GOAL!?If a player has a move that is backed by the right attributes there should't be any reason for him not to be useful...

But on FM, players with the shoots from distance PPM take a pop from ridiculous distances, and very rarely get in on target let alone score. Cazorla and Michu regularly have 8+ shots each in a game from out side the box, usually only get 2 or 3 between them on target.

Basically, I would be fine with good players occasionaly shooting from distance, but in real life you don't see players having 10+ shots a game from barely inside - sometimes outside - the final third, getting only a few on target and never scoring. And as I said, in real life if you specifically told a player to stop shooting, I doubt they would keep doing it as much for long.
Literally just sold Cazorla on deadline day of 2nd season purely because of this.

All we need now is one person to assure us not to loose faith since he found such a player which utilize this move in a productive manner...If such a person would not rise to testify...Well i'm going to play Golf...
