Hi guys! First of all, I am spanish, so I am sorry if I make any mistake.
The point is that I know in theory and guides we always read that fluid tactics are mainly useful in teams whose players own, in general, good skills (mental and technical) and vise versa regarding to weak teams and rigid tactics

However, I noticed that rigid tactics often generate 1 vs 1 situations (due to each player has his tasks perfectly delimeted). For example: Your Full Back Vs Winger enemy. In most of these cases I was defeated because of this disadvantage. Then I thougth: "Well, in fluid tactics every player would help in every area of the pitch and like that the team could become more solid". The results were amazing and I got 3rd position in Spain with my team which had played in the second division the last season (UD Almeria).

The point is, What does mean "weak" in guides and theories? Is, for example, Stoke City weak? Or just the teams which play in 5th division?

I know that may be is a stupid question, but my experience is not very normal accordig to the Experts'statement, but I got very good results.

Cheers!

Emf.

More fluid means more skillful, more freedom to express their skill. More rigid means more pragmatic, more drilled into doing specific jobs more organised and efficient.

Fluid= Spain, Brazil

Rigid= England, Germany

Personally i think its a myth that only quality teams can play fluid, it is very possible and becoming fashionable for lower league teams to play a more fluid possession based style.

That is exactly what I wanted to put on discussion.In fact, managing a "theoric weak team", I got using a fluid tactic a better perfomance than using a rigid one.

A fluid tactic works better with shorter passing, its my belief that a short pass is something every footballer should be able to do no matter what their skill, a short pass is easier than a long direct pass, there is also nothing wrong in giving less skillful players more freedom to express themselves rather than bogging them down in tactical shackles. Ive had plenty of success using fluid with lower league sides.

When using more fluid style of play every player participates in both attack and defence. I use very fluid style and it gives me good results, better than when I used balanced fluidity. Though I haven't tested it on weak teams (I'm going to, as soon as my season is finished).
