Hey everyone,
I'm playing in my 4th season with Middlesbrough with a team predominantly made up of developing wonder kids (I only have 2-3 players with a current rating of 4+ stars). This is my 3rd season in the EPL and my title odds are 200-1 which should roughly translate to the area between the mid-table and relegation zone.
I prefer to see what my opponent is using as a formation and counter with the proper formation. With that said, I'd like to learn the theory behind the formations chosen to counter a certain formation and ESPECIALLY the tactics/orders/player instructions/etc. behind them as well...in line with the whole teaching a man how to fish instead of giving him a fish. Does anybody have any insightful articles or online sources for the theory behind formations and tactics?
tl;dr - Does anybody have any insightful articles or online sources for the theory behind choosing formations and tactics?
For example, if my opponent is playing a 4-5-1 V, supposedly a 4-3N-2W-1 is a proper counter tactic since it moves the unnecessary DM into a CM spot, thus giving larger numbers in the middle and granting the advantage. I'd like to know more about that type of thought process and hopefully also about the proper mentality/team instructions to go along with it.
Any help would be great. Thanks!
