Does anyone else play football manager and leave the real players box unticked?

I know you usually get some copy's of certain players but sometimes you find players who you don't have a clue who the are based on.
Has anybody got a good save using faking players?
Do people usually sign players who they are based on in real life?

No, I don't because I like to know who's doing well and it would do my head in at the start of the game if I knew none of the players because at least if you do a long term save you can slowly learn who these obscure regens are.

Was thinking about this for FM13. Not sure how good it will be. Might do it as a second save or something though

I've done it a few times and it's surprisingly fun. I like the fact that you know no players and it makes much more of a challenge.

You realise they both resemble Rooney are because they both have exactly the same stats? Probably Rooneys, looks like it. I know he starts with 15 heading

It does have it own quirks, and it is quite enjoyable at times. Because you can't search players by their names, although it's almost always very obvious who the player is based on. I think this would be a more viable option if SI came up with a way where the clubs still maintain their reputations and do have world class players distributed proportionally, but that the players themselves would not be directly based on a real-life player. That would make it more fun for me.

Yeah if they wernt just the same players with differnt names i would be more interested in playing without real players

I do it all the time,

Makes the game much more fun, I never really used to enjoy games until most of the real players had been overtaken by regens

Its great when these copies don't play for their original nation. Ive seen Ronaldo and Torres both as German (at the same me). But the best copy Ive seen is Scottish Messi!

I think that is what potentially kills it for me, knowing that I end up recognising a lot of the players anyway. If it was somehow truly random, I'd probably make much more use of it.
