Hi all! Really addicted to FM on my iPhone after getting Albion Rovers all the way to the top and winning the SPL from 3rd division. Something that I wondered about is should you always take the coaches advice?? I've got young players up through my youth academy and some of their stats are awesome yet the coach thinks other players are better yet their stats are nowhere near as good??? Any thoughts on this??? Cheers!

Kris

Depends how good your coaches are. If they have poor juding player ability/potential then taking their advice probably isn't the best option. It's best to go with your own opinion if your coaches have poor attributes.

As young players improve their attributes will rise and look more impressive .... also bear in mind that in FMHi the attributes displayed are biased slightly by a players current form (in training and matches) so will vary more than in FM PC - which makes spotting quality players a little more challenging (just as in real-life).

Finally however, you're the manager its your call - your coaches won't be 100% correct and often the style of football you play might mean that a slightly 'lesser' player who fits your formation might be a better bet than someone with higher potential who might not have the aptitude for the style of play you prefer .....

(personally I use my coaches as a sounding board, I'm not afraid to ignore them if I like a player but if I'm undecided then they act as my coin toss for retaining/signing borderline players)

This must be the pc version your talking about? I cant find anywhere on handheld version that states the abilities of my coach/scouts etc.. or have I missed this info somewhere?

He is.

On iOS I do the same as Marc (on PSP too in fact) where I have been having players judged as the best youngster and been told to sell some of the best I have (got told to sell someone then in the first season he played in he got 58 goals in 55 games at 21), so it is borderline decisions you should use him for not "full time" as he is often wrong.
