Ive been pondering on this subject for a while and haven't come to a conclusion about the matter with my friend. The situation is this :

If you was to have a squad of players , and the majority of the players were from the same nation, would the team overall as a whole perform better than what they would with just a random set of players ?

For e.g, Barcelona. Their set up mainly consists of Spanish players with the odd exception for Argentinians and Brazilians. They have brilliant chemistry and are always bringing up new Spanish talent through their youth systems.

So would this be the same on FM. Could you buy a lot of players from 1 nation and get them to gel allot more than what you would have with a random selection of players and if so , how much more affective would this be ?

It would be nice to take a team to success that are mainly from 1 nation, just like Barcelona have done on many occasions.

well think about it logically :)

1) a team like Barca (most of their players play for International teams, the more of the same nation the more frequently they train/play with each other)

2) if they all are from the same nation they will generally speak the same language (making settling in or communications easier)

3) if they play together and have for a while there is a chance that a lot of them would have a few of these players listed as their favourite personel

4) so yes it would in my opinion! its not going to make your team the best in the world or anything like that, just it would take a lot less time for players to settle and get used to their team mates and how you/they play....

does that answer your question?

Yeah , I guess what you say has a lot of sense in it, Im in the process of formulating a team which I want to consist mainly of young spanish players as I am also the Spanish manager so I will see how things go. Thanks.

Thanks , i will look into them , ill post how things turn out in a couple of days , see if the theory is right and how well it was :)

Not sure how the mechanics would work (basic morale boost?) but yeah you get a big effect. Xavi Iniesta Fabregas, etc, all coming through the same youth school, and speaking the same language, will generate a lot of "thinks *** is a good player" traits in the personality bit. Same would probably apply to the German national team, winning the U21s then all getting promoted at the same time.
