Does my own youth academy underperform when creating regens?

Playing as Juventus, in season 2019/2020. Got a superb team with mostly young regens and some older quality players.

Anyway, it seems to me that my youth academy mostly produces ****** regens, only had one 4.5 star regen in total. I have the best possible training facility (20), state of the art youth facilities (20) and youth academy (17). Can't ask the board to improve it further, the option simply doesn't exist (greyed out). But still I get crappy regens, I have to buy young players from other clubs and develop them (like Arsenal does nowdays).

I don't have any feeder clubs (can this be the problem?).
Only have 3 scouts, that doens't scout very much, only give me reports about player developing and such (since I use FM Genie Scout).
I also have one of the best ingame Head of Youth developments coaches, Rudolfo Borrell.

But still I can see that clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester U and C etc creates regens every season with PA 175+, while I get nothing. Im ranked as the second best club in the world, after Bayern Munich.

Is there anyone else facing this problem? And if so, does anyone have any tips on how to improve the situation?

Look at your staff's personalities. They affect how good the regens you get will be.

Does that affect the ones that spawn, or only how they develop? If so, what kind of personalities would I want my staff to have? And is it the whole staff, or only the ones like football director and head of youth development?

Thanks for input!

Its the ones that spawn. For good personalities look here Player Personalities | Football Manager 2014 Guide.

For good staff look at my thread ASK UNCLE MAD.

Hi! I scanned through all of my personell and 95% of them have positive personalities, and the rest neutral, most of them had determined as personalite. I don't have any coach below 4 star rating, most of them is 5 or 4.5.

I also read through your entire asking-thread, it was an eye-opener but not on this subject.

I guess there's something wrong with my save or my ability as manager. Thanks for the help anyways!

Highly unlikely - Im not a bad manager myself and yet playing as AJAXlong term with top of everything and still I dont get too many *** star potential players every time let alone **** and *****. It must be something else.

I had a similar issue too, except my academy constantly churned up 4-5* strikers, and below average midfielders and defenders. It was very frustrating to try and build a team using youth players only if you're constantly producing strikers.

The very top teams should have at least one player if nurtured correctly that could turn into a great player... I once turned a 2* player into a 4.5* player just by giving him game time, I think with your youth intakes you should ignore your coaches and have an educated guess as to whether or not the player has what it takes.

I remember last year, John Swift (chelsea) and Branco Van Den Boomen (Ajax) were disregarded by my coaches but they were key in me doing well in my Bournemouth save.
