Dover Athletic Football Club is an association football team based in the town of Dover, Kent, England. The club was formed in 1983 after the dissolution of the towns previous club, Dover FC. In April 2008 the club won the championship of Division One South and with it promotion to the Isthmian League Premier Division. The following season Dover won the championship of this division and gained promotion to Conference South.

BREAKING NEWS

With the news of above, the board of Dover Athletic have drafted in an immediate replacement for Hessenthaler, former England international footballer Jake Miles (47 caps/7 goals), although it should be noted that Miles has no previous managerial experience.

When asked by 'The Non-League Paper' about his feelings for the job, the new manager said that he was "delighted to be hired" and that his new job in management was "a dream come true".

It is believed that Miles will be looking to bring in a few fresh faces to the Dover squad over the summer transfer window.

I will try to update this thread with each month of the seasons that I play. I normally lose motivation to play a football manager game so hopefully a story will give me that motivation to keep it going. :)

My ultimate aim is to take Dover Athletic to Premiership Glory! Wish me luck!

Good start mate, and have a great time on base, you will love it.

Thank you very much! :)

First update!

PRE-SEASON!
4 new players were brought in as free transfers over the pre-season! These were: Mark Cartwright (DC), Izet Zahirovic (ST), Arron Fray (RB) and Angelos Tsiaklis (CM). All 4 players are quite young (the oldest being 22 years old) as Jake Miles looks to build for the future!

Jake Miles described the pre-season as pretty successful with only 2 defeats from the 11 games that we played during the pre-season.

The results are as follows:
Dover Athletic 1 - 0 Dover Athletic Reserves
We started off our pre-season campaign with a win over their reserve side but I would've liked the team to have won by a bigger margin.

Dover Athletic 0 - 3 Torquay United
Not at all a good result, even though the opposition are 2 leagues above us, I would not like to see us conceding this many goals.

Dover Athletic 3 - 3 Harrogate
Again I feel we were not good enough defensively and conceding 3 goals to a team that is in the Blue Square North division isn't good enough defensively.

Dover Athletic 3 - 1 Wroxham
A convincing win over Wroxham but I think that the goal we conceded really wasn't needed.

Dover Athletic 3 - 1 Nuneaton
Another convincing win over Nuneaton although the past 2 games should've been considered as nothing less than winnable games. We should not be losing games like these and I am glad we won.

Dover Athletic 2 - 2 Chesterfield
A good result against League 2 opposition. Although we did not win I am happy we have gotten a result like this against opposition like Chesterfield.

Dover Athletic 1 - 2 Cambrid
ge
Our first loss in a while, against a team that has high hopes in the Blue Square Premier League. This result isn't too bad but letting in 2 goals again should be taken note of.

Dover Athletic 3 - 0 Chalfont Wasps
Again we came up against Non-League opposition much below us and anything less than a win was simply unacceptable. We came out 3-0 winners and had a convincing win in the bag.

Dover Athletic 2 - 1 Hayes & Yeading
A good result! Against opposition a league above us, we were obviously underdogs here but we came out as winners 2-1! Hopefully we can come up like this throughout the season.

Dover Athletic 3 - 1 RC Warwick
Another team that is far, far below us in terms of reputation and so we needed a win here. Came out a convincing 3-1 victory but we need to stop conceding goals!

Dover Athletic 2 - 0 Ashford (Middx)

We ended the pre-season coming up against Ashford on the 4th August. Another lower league team and we won 2-0. We let in no goals which is good but I would've liked to have scored more goals.

Now the actual league begins!
