Downloaded Tactics

What is your opinion of using downloaded/other people's tactics in FM?

I know they're better than my own D) but isn't the point of Football Manager to manage a team in your own way, using your own tactics (to be a unique manager) and experimenting with them to find the most successful? Does using a tactic made by someone who spent time perfecting it not defeat the purpose of playing?

I don't want this thread to be controversial or anything, everyone does what they want, I just want to hear your opinions on the subject.

If you use one, can you tell me which one too.

It's always interesting to see how creative people can be with tactics. And doing a successful tactic is very difficult unless you understand how roles and instructions work. Since not everyone, myself included, aren't very familiar with the roles it helps tremendously to be able to download tactics. Unfortunately however, it seems that many look for tactics that can exploit the me in such a way that you will always win mostly every game and can take a small team to a huge team in just a few seasons. So it works for good and bad in my opinion. But each to their own.

I've used downloaded tactics since I started playing again in fm12, with various success. But after playing a season on fm14 I started to get bored with it so I've been trying to make a successful tactic on my own and it's very time consuming and I find myself having to spend a lot of effort on researching and testing. It's hard work but it's fun and feels very rewarding when you see good results. But it's very understandable that not everyone want to spend the time and effort on it. I still download some tactics but only to test them and get some inspiration. I only play my league games with my own tactics now, and working out well at that too for the time being! ^^)

Of course man, mine was simply a question to see other people's views on the matter, not an indirect 'I'm better than you because I make my own tactics' In fact my tactics have brought me success but they are in no way perfect, without flaw. I don't even spend that much time on them tbh outside preseason, I usually create 3 at the start of a season and leave them like that (I only really use one) unless we start playing badly.
