Jefferies said " I feel that i have went far enough with this team. The club is in a financial state that it should be able to survive the rest of the season and I feel my time is up with the team.

Dunfermline Athletic - A quick introduction

Dunfermline Athletic were a club formed in 1885. They play at East End Park, a stadium that has a capacity of 12,000. Dunfermline's most successful days were back in the 1960s where they had players like Alex Ferguson. The manager at the time was Jock Stein in the early 60s but left for Hibernian. Willie Cunningham stepped in for 3 years before George Farm. Jock Stein won Dunfermline's first Scottish Cup in 1960-61 season beating Celtic 2-0 in a replay. They played regular European football. Goerge Farm then won the Scottish Cup for the second time beating Hearts 3-1.

Recently Dunfermline have been in a financial struggle. During March 2013 it was reported that Dunfermline players weren't getting paid. Soon after that it was reported that Dunfermline Athletic were served with a winding up order.

During last season Dunfermline had to make 5 players redundant and were given a 15- point deduction. The second game before the end of the season they were leading 3-2 at Partick Thistle but after a late Partick goal they had to beat Airdrie on the last day of the season but lost which meant they had to go through the play-offs. They got beat in the play-off final by Alloa. They were then relegated to the Scottish League 1.
