Hey guys

Well im a man united fan and was feeling nostalgic after looking back at the matches in the 2007-8 season and was just thinking wow at the dynamism of our attacks and also the solidity of the defense. I want to look to recreate it. Obviously it won't be exactly the same due to not having the exact same squad. So i was wondering if anyone could help me out with players regarding the main players.

The formations i were thinking about were the 4-2-3-1 deep and and the 4-2-4.

GK: Goalkeepers in my opinion are fine with the ones I have at my disposal already.

Defense: I'm thinking not to make any major signings atm only maybe a more defensively right back.

Midfield: I would get rid of anderson and bring in a solid defensive mid (was thinking fellaini or even maybe moussa sissoko) and most likely a young dlp to cover carrick as i'll mainly be using him (and rotating with cleverly when i push the cms up). I do have scholes and giggs still but i tend not to start them unless it's cup games or play them to see games out.

Attack: Now this is where i'm a tad stuck. I was thinking of keeping nani for his versatility on wings and when i have managed him he's been on form. I'm looking to sell young as i can get usually 20-27m for him in the first season. I will possibly bring in wellington nem to take his place because well he's one of the best buys of the game. Valencia is more of a conundrum as he basically one sided (in that his strengths are hugging the right touchline and whipping crosses in). I don't know whether it'll be worth giving him a season or two with the correct training to adapt to playing on both wings. Strikers for me are simple. Wayne and RVP defo starters. Chicharito as the super sub/ole role. Welbeck i'm not sure on whether to keep as he has been rather patchy in finishing with me so I dont know whether to buy ademilson or not.

Now i know my tactics are rather vague atm but that's something i want to work on and also get some help in another thread later on.

So the players I would like some recommendations are:
a solid defensive RB
A Defensive Mid
A young dlp (carrick esque,keeping the ball moving)
and a attacking mid,versatile, quality for price and also got that bit of magic

Could you not use Jones as a right back?

Badstuber, Zouma, Alaba, Danilo, Romulo, Fellani, Poli, Isco, Draxler, Eriksen, Schurrle, Jovetic, Rodrigo, Ademilson and Wellington Nem. Some of them good enough now, some of them for the future. But you cannot go wrong with any of them. It's likely someone will suggest Gotze, but personally, I don't like him very much. If uou can afford Falcao, you are onto a winner.

He is exactly what you are after from a defensive right back by the sounds of it, though. Right backs seem to be hard to come by in this years game, from my experience anyway.

No problem at all! These are all from personal experience and they've been great players. Also, Erik Lamela and Jack Wilshere (if he will come to Man Uitd due to rivalry). Gaston Ramirez after his first season is up too.

I managed to get wilshere in one of my other saves! he was trsnsfer listed. Got Walcott and the Ox too as they were unhappy!!

I'll try out jones as a rb and then most likely buy a cb like a year later

Marek Hamšík is still quite young at 23. He'd make a more than acceptable replacement for Carrick. You've also got Beñat, who's a bit older. Neither of them are very defensive-minded though.

Hmmmm I have had hamsik in the previous fms and tbh he didnt set his name in my starting eleven. I'll take a look at benat though.

Btw bayern want more than 27m for badstuber!!!!

For RB, what about Sagna? One of the best defensive RBs on the game (To begin with) Alternatively, find a quick, young CB who has a high work rate and re-train him as a RB (Decisions attribute is also very important, but mental stats grow with age )

lol im not too keen on sagna tbh plus it would take alot for arsenal to sell
