Which is the best team overall?

( I didnt think about the 2006 WC squads but they were too similar to the 2010)

In a match, who would come out as winners?

it is hard but i think it would come down to managers

Darius Vassell XD

i actually think this years team is a much stronger, although far less experienced.

the problem we have is all the other squads are stronger.

2010 team much better apart from the midfield

2002 all the way.

Awesome strike force and Mid.

Rooney, Lampard, Terry from 2010 squad would have got into that. Rest all 2002 is better. Even Rio-Campbell pair was solid.

2002 team for the win! Seaman was God, Campbell/Ferdinand was beast and from Beckham to Scholes the midfield speaks for itself. Michael Owen and Heskey in those days was sexy as well.

I reckon if we had 2002 squad for this year's World Cup (all the players same age as they were in 2002) then we woulddn't do very well as the squad isn't suited to football nowadays as there isn't many fast skillful players like we need and have now.

2010 wins overall.

I disagree with some of those choices and you cannot base it on player by player decisions but as a team overall 2002 wins. Seaman is the best goalkeeper for example so it doesn't matter if the 2010 backups are better.

Its squad, not first 11.

there are alot of negative people on here!!! the england squad travelling to south africa is not week with the exception of re taking heskey, and warnock in for bridge, and as for this complete fabrication that every side going has a better squad than us is complete ****, people are basing this on players abillities and reputations on football manager, the reality is this, on squad stregnth we are stronger than holland, france italy germany and brazil, whether we turn up on the big stage and whether capello has the tactical abillity to suit the differant styles, cultures and technical aspects of the other sides is yet to be seen, just because we have been playing poorly of late does not mean, man for man, player for player, squad for squad we are weeker than any other side than spain!!!

2010.

2002 have Darius Vassell, Danny Mills & Nicky ****. 'Nuff said.

'In a match, who would come out as winners?'

The whole squad doesn't play. I believe the 2002 team would win.

I didn't say the 2002 team wouldn't win in a match, I said that the 2010 squad is better.

The title of the thread is England 2002 Squad vs 2010 Squad, not England 2002 First 11 vs 2010 First 11.

The only way to see which one is better, is to wait until the end of this World Cup and see how England has fared thre.

Compare the 2002 squad to the winning 2002 squad and you'll see the difference in quality. Lol at Kaka down the bottom
