I'm managing England, I won the 2016 European Championship, but have just played the 2018 World Cup and got knocked out in the quarter-final against Spain. Should it be possible to win the 2018 World Cup with England?

You should be able to win the 2014 World Cup with the squad and players England have.

FM-wise, they have some of the best players in-game. Get the right tactic and I'm sure you can win it.

such an open ended question and sort of pointless mate.....

it depends on regen development, tactics, injuries, players like Rooney and Young would be at least 33yrs old... Wilshere would be in his prime.. Walker, Caulker, Smithies, Jones, Chamberlain etc would also be at a good age, but it also depends on how these younger players have developed...

plus you lost against Spain, not like you lost against Saudi Arabia mate ;)

I'm asking about 2018. I wasn't made England manager until 2015.

Sooooorry!!!! All I'm asking is if it's possible. But sorry, anything's possible isn't it. Yeah sorry, stupid question. Forget it.

dont get your panties in a knot bud...

of course its possible, its possible winning the World Cup with South Africa in 2018 as well :) as I said, it all depends on the points I mentioned above...

If you'd just said it's an open-ended question I would've totally agreed, but to say it's pointless is bollocks. Try thinking about how you word your comments!

so sorry did not mean to offend you so much...

please ensure you take your primrose oil and contraceptive pill tomorrow :) don't forget like you have today...

Ha just seen your photo, that explains it all. If I'd known I wouldn't have bothered.

Sigh, it was a pretty stupid question.

You can win any competition you are in, that is kind of the point of the game, if there was no way of winning it, it would be pointless to play.

Wow everyone's against me today! It's not a stupid question. Obviously anyone can win the world cup. What I am asking is how possible is it. I'd imagine an FM God would win it most times, but I can't imagine someone being average being able to win it. But I also thought there was a possibility that a lot of people would reply saying it's almost impossible. Seriously though, don't bother wasting your time replying. I wish I'd never asked.

says he who I have constantly helped with anything he has asked :) you have seriously forgotten your pill this morning :)

dont be an *** and take it on the chin dude, jesus, dont have to get so upset over something so small....

yeah well a lot of people are jealous :) I will just add you to that list ;)

What I am asking is how possible is it.

Depending on the regens/state of the team you acquired when you took over, I would suggest it would be relatively easy if you have a good tactic, which I guess you will have considering you won the Euros. Although, Brazil and Argentina always seem to produce awesome regens on my saves, so I imagine they will be a bit of a challenge, but nothing overly strenuous, and far from impossible.

I suppose it also depends on the teams you draw throughout the competition, if you end up playing Scotland/Israel/Iran/Estonia on the way to a final against Poland, it would be allot easier than a run against Brazil/Argentina/Spain/Italy/France/Holland/Germany for example.

Ok thanks. I thought I was a pretty decent manager, but to be honest I didn't see myself winning it. Must try harder!

It surely is possible but it can become difficult with time. In my 2020 save, there are only very few german players left in the german 1st league (around 1 or 2 in the first 11 in every team), because clubs in germany don't seem to develop their youngsters. So in the 2018 world cup Germany had 4 of my youth players in the first team and won the WC in the end but I guess now most of the old players will retire before 2020 EC and I'm quite sure they won't win anything again soon...
