Just completed my first season in FM2010 (I know, it took ages) as Hull City and finished a creditable eighth, despite being unable to sign any players to add to the woeful real-life team that went down that year. The eighth-place finish meant I missed out on Europe by one spot, and my question is: how much of a difference does that make in the calibre of signing you can attract? We've bought some quality, with the likes of Nicolas Burdisso and Manuele Blasi signing on, but when I try for REAL top-class performers, they're not interested, and the cream of the youth players won't even give us a second glance. We're top after six games in the second season and looking great, so I'm very hopeful of European qualification, so will I then be able to attract some of the big names if I make Europe? Does Europa League qualification make much difference or does it have to be Champions League?

Thanks in advance.

You will probably need to do quite well in Europa first, or get top 4.
So you're probably looking at atleast another season.

Ah, thanks, that's what I thought. No quick-fixes there then. Can't see us getting top four this season, so I'll aim for Europa League and then take that seriously if I get there.
