Everton on 9.3

I have just started my second game as everton. played one season but on old patch so started again with the update.
I'm not great at this game so I'll update this thread with my progress and if anyone would give me advice on were I'm weak in squad, what I could be doing better please do.

So when you start you get a Huge 1 million transfer budget, and minimum expectations are

League - Qaulify for EURO cup (top 6)
FA Cup - 6th Round
League Cup Qauter Final
EURO CUP - Reach the Group stage

So to start with my in's and outs


My current squad and line up



I play standard 4-4-2, very defensive mind set, but quick long direct passing and playing counter attack. Got all my team set to man marking apart from the centre forwards and Arteta who i set to Zonal.

Well thats were I'm up to for now, and advice or any comments are welcome please, I'll update again later.

Well im actually having an excellent start i did not expect. Won every league game so far, although i have not faced any of the big four or Villa or Man City yet.

I love this game
 
You seem to be doing great so far mate, although it is very early on in the season. Everton are a fantastic side on FM, especially in defence. I'd advise you to check out the thread I made a while back when I was playing as Everton, its all from patch 9.1/2 obviously but it should all still help.

As Everton I decided to take out a load of loans, most of which were rubbish and mainly just for back up, but they done wonders. And I managed to get Balotelli on loan for no fee, just paying 100% of wages, and he done quite well until he got injured and was out for months, so I sent him back to Inter.

I got rid of Leon Osman instantly as I didn't have any reason for him to be in my squad, he was getting on and his stats werent great. The cash I got from him I turned to wages which funded all of the loans. Oh and I bought Amir Zaki, but he didn't come until the start of the second season (which I forgot to notice haha).

Come the second season I got given slightly more of a transfer budget and offloaded Pienaar and Tony Hibbert for around 3mil each, and then my board stupidly accepted an offer from Villa for Jagielka of about 11mil, which I was gutted about. So I had to find another RB; Miguel Torres. Who was fantastic. I bought Leonardo (ML), Chris James from a recommendation (MC) and Saviola from Real Madrid who was transfer listed (ST).

Then came the 3rd season, when I kind of went mad and sold Arteta, Yobo, Zaki and Yakubu. Making 67mil, to strengthen my squad in areas I needed, and to invest in youngsters. These included Lewandowski, Elano, Onuoha (DR) Filipe (DL) and Aguero who was meant to be a prolific goal scorer. Although he didn't score too many for me so I ended up getting rid of him the season after.

Season after, bought some more; Mata and Faubert, the perfect pair for ML and MR, and Asenjo for GK who was great.

Next season, got a much bigger transfer budget, sold a few wonderkids, including Aguero so had about 70mil to spend. Bought Yobo back for a quarter of the price, Matias Fernandez, Gallas, Vuckevic, Marquinhos, Schwaab, Sall and John Fleck (last two were free)


So yeah, thats pretty much where I got up to with Everton, and I am playing as Liverpool now. But theres a few names in there for you to look at and consider for your squad, good luck! :)

Thanks, I will do that when January arrives, I was thinking about selling osman too, hes a decent player but not good enough for first team and hes not young either.
Jo is garbage, so far he played 6 and not scored a goal, or created anything, i got an option on the loan to buy him for 11 million, no thanks lol
 
jo isnt that bad i would use him as a target man to head cause hes got good heading and jumping

sell osman as well i think everton and the weakest on the left midfield and centre mid and fwrds so get moutinho, palombo, and vagner love, vela, balotelli
 
thanks just made Jo my target man, while Saha is my fast striker.
 
New Progress Update...............

Continued to perform okay, but picked up consistent results, now I have hit a blip, sort of, but loosing to Arsenal Dinamo Bucharest and Chelsea is that so bad. And I played well agasint chelsea was very unlucky check this out



that late lampard goal crushed me, I thought I had the point lol.

Got a tough run in ahead, an exciting league cup quarter final due with Arsenal, hopefully I play better than when i played them last time, the last game was one sided i never had a shot on goal.

Jo still has not scored or had a rating over 6.5out of 11 league games and 2 euro cup games.

about to play panithaniokos now, but I have a weakened squad out because I have one eye on the league cup Quarter Final tie. Jose Baxter and John Paul Kissock start, along with Carlo Nash in goal lol. total disrespect to the Euro Cup lol
 
random, team to start as love it, in a few days i will be starting a network game with people from work, were going to be 4 teams from the Turkish league how randoms that lol.
I wanted to start in Romania but I got out voted
 
aha my network game just finished after 3 seasons so starting up a new one, aha turkey is okay i spose, got fenerbache and galatasary, and sporting have a quality midfield

so i thought meh they haven't won their league in like 6 years, i'll give it a go
 
just drew 2-2, threw away a 2 goal lead :(, not good times at the moment

its great to go a good team who have under performed in the last few years and turn them great again. Examples are PSG, or Deportivo.
I always wanted to win the SPL with a team other than rangers or Celtic.

well I beat Arsenal 1-0 in the league Qaurter final, so resting players in the Euro cup payed off. Got Liverpool in the Semi Final I have had no easy run in the league cup.

just wondering what tactics you are using mate they look fantastic.I am playing with Everton at the moment and i am using one of jp woodys tactics and it has been working quite well i am 4th at the moment in my second season and have just beaten chelsea at goodison 3-0 but yours look as if they are working better is it a set?? and is it or they your tactics....please upload thankyou^^)

I drew with West Brom, Arsenal and Liverpool won meaning I finish 3rd. Still a better season than last year and I have won the EURO Cup for second season in a row.

For this tactic you need............

Right back to be Phil Neville or an excellent right who can defend well, going forward not too important, because with Neville not committing himself forward Arteta can have more freedom down the right.

The Defensive Mid with arrow pointing back should be a good Defensive mid who plays CM. Retrain Felliani to DM and play him in that CM position.

The Left mid must be an accomplished right mid and vice versa, as they swap positions.

The Centre forward who has an arrow going back is you target man, he's got to be strong and aggressive with good ball control and creativity. Jan Vennegoor Of Hesslink played the role well for me, And Jo is good at it. This formation needs a strong target man has the team his built around him.

You should have 2 strikers on the bench, a fast striker and a target man.

It may take your team about 5 games to adjust to the tactic providing you got the right players in the right postions

have tried this tactic with everton and have signed hesslink and playing the way you have said and i am having completely different results i am struggling to get into the top 10 and losing games home and away that i think are totally unaceptable just lost 3-0 at home to hull and 3-0 away to west brom and for me that is relagation form the yak couldnt hit a barn door just scored his first goal in over 12 hours and that was a penalty arteta hasnt scored 1 free kick and generally i think the team is under performing as the results would suggest and i am over half way through the season on 9.3 patch so i will give it a few more games and if no better i will have to re-assess my options in the tactics department. Do you have any suggestions????:(
