Probably down to your computer mate. I played FM from 05 all the way up to 09 on my battered old PC which was about 10 years old (yet miraculously ran all the games!) and got a new laptop about 6 months ago, really noticed the difference.
Try freeing up some disk space on your computer or just run FM without any other programs running.
