FAVIAN DORNE: FOOTBALL MANAGER
View attachment 577541
Wednesday 19th June 2013:
Swansea City Football Club have today announced the appointment of German-born English manager Favian Dorne as their new boss, replacing Garry Monk. Dorne, who has 73 caps for Germany, put pen to paper on a 1 year deal worth 28,500k a week. The club have given him ?10million to spend to transform the squad as they take part in 4 competitions this season. We wish the best of luck to Favian as he plans to help the Swans finish as high as they can this year.

TEAM REVIEW

Two goalkeepers should be enough for the season but I'm looking already to bring in Tim Werner on a free transfer to rotate with Vorm. Michel should be my number 1 for the season and if a buyer comes in for Tremmel I'd be happy to sell him quickly.

The Full backs seem to be this side's best position with Taylor, Davies, Rangel and Richards all being good in their positions, minimum tinkering required.

Not so good, Ashley Williams is very good naturally but apart from that it's a bit weak. Flores and Amat should be good rotation but Bartley should go and a replacement would be very useful.

Another strong area of the team with a good amount of depth. As I'll be looking to play 4-2-3-1 emphasis will be placed on Britton and probably De Guzman in CM while Michu should take the number 10 spot easily.

On the wings we also have an interesting selection. I'm tempted to sell Dyer to fund more signings. Emnes and Lamah are good squad players on loan while Hernandez and Routledge should prove exciting this season

We seem to have a wealth of bad strikers here. Bony should be a good striker but apart from that it won't be plain sailing, N'gog and Lita are aweful while Pozuelo and Vazquez are hardly the most talented strikers in the world.

Overall, a good team but not the most exciting one ever. A few signings will be needed if we want to do well this season.

Swansea City 3 FC Utrecht 1
Hernandez (30') De Guzman (pen 55') Lamah (63')
easy start to pre-season as we thrash the dutch with ease.

Swansea City 6 Lech Poznan 1
Matavz (33') Lamah (43'53') Emnes (75'84') Pozuelo (80')
Quite self explanatory really. Easy win against mediocre opposition though the lack of a clean sheet worries me.

Afreton 1 Swansea City 3
Matavz (16') Routledge (43') Canas (87')

Lack of clean sheet still looms but good to see my strikers and wingers hitting the ground running.

Wrexham 0 Swansea City 3
Ngog (13'33') Zambrano (63')
Finally a clean sheet! Though it is against Wrexham while Ngog getting a brace is a good way to keep his face in my mind.

Swansea City 1 Chievo 0
Bony (17')

A good defensive performance took us through to the final of our friendly cup as Bony got to the rebound from a Michu shot. New signings are fitting in well, a relief.

Swansea City 2 Evian TG FC 3
Matavz (39') Bony (80')

My first defeat was deserved as we played poorly. Angel Rangel was sent off 3 minutes in for a lunge whilst Wes Hoolahan failed to score from the spot when we were 2-1 down.

Pre-season signings

A busy window for a busy club. I quickly sold Kyle Bartley and Leroy Lita while a few youngsters were sent out on loan and Gerhard Tremmel released. My first signing was a free transfer with German international Tim Weise signing on a 1-year contract to fight for the number 1 spot with Michel Vorm. Matt Lowton, a player I've found to be a serious bargain on FM joins for 3.2m from Aston Villa. Wes Hoolahan adds to the depth of the squad with a 1.1m move whilst my two big signings were the 2.8m acquisition of CB Carlos Zambrano of Frankfurt and highly rated youngster Tim Matavz from PSV for 7.5m.
I also signed Bournemouth youngster Sam Matthews and got Jonathan de Guzman down for a permanent transfer to the club.
