Well, I returned to FM 12 after my FM 13 was having some bugs. Then I downloaded a simple update pack (.dbc) in another thread here, and started a new game.

And then, I decided to start with FC Halifax Town, "recently promoted" (due to update pack) to Conference National (I think I had also changed their divisions, because the pack wasn't updated in this levels).

SEASON 2011-12

Media Prediction: relegation battle

In my first season in charge, I had to revamp the squad, because the club was simply weaker than the others in the same division (the likes of Barnet, Forest Green - which surprisingly achieved a 3rd place and reached the play-offs final, Luton and Aldershot)

Main signings: Gavrey Villareal (scored 30 league goals in only 42 matches), Wouter Jansen, Levi Marengo, Antonello Romaniello, Gabriel and Rocky Siberie.

Landmarks: finished 2nd in Conference Premier (well, just silencing the media with this position

2012-13: League Two, turning professional

After a stunning season in Conference Premier, we arrived in League Two, and the club turned professional (to fulfill FA rules).

Media prediction: Relegation battle (media always being kind with my team)

Main transfers - Summer: Steve Hines (from Corby - 6K - a 16-years old lad who has some prospect), Adam Henley (yes, the full-back from Blackburn - free), Rory McKeown (from Kilmarnock - free), Artur Krysiak (from Exeter - free), Daniel Boateng (from Arsenal - free; despite being signed initially as a backup, he played very well when Gabriel was injured, and formed a strong partnership with Ridny Cairo at the back).

Pre-season: 5 games (4W 1D 0L): 2-0 FCHT Reserves, 4-0 Oldham, 4-0 Worcester, 6-0 Colwyn Bay, 3-3 Middlesbrough.

The club played his first professional match on 11 August 2012, against Exeter, and went on to win by 6-1, with Siberie scoring a hat-trick.

Main transfers - Winter: Nicklas Helenius and Leandro Bacuna (both on loan from Aston Villa).

Again, the club finished 2nd in the league (this time 4 points behind champions Notts Co :O); in the cups, however, the club failed to reach the final levels (3rd Rd - FA Cup, N Qtr Final - JPT, 2nd Rd - League Cup)

Helenius finished the season as top scorer of the club and the league (32 lg goals in 23 games (H)(H)(H))

2013-14: League One

I think the media prediction is unnecessary :D

After some defeats in the start of the season, the club played very well (more than I expected), and is now eight games without losing.

Main summer signings: Nicklas Helenius (now in a one-year loan, Bacuna refused), Adam Nditi (from Chelsea), Albert Rusnak (from Man City), Toni Vastic and Emre Can (from FC Bayern; both weren't "summer" signings, because Can signed only in November and Vastic only in October)

The only concern was Romaniello. After two seasons, he claimed that he wants a new contract, but shortly after (his agent wasn't helping) he wanted to move to a bigger club). Well, if you want, ok then. Sold him to Dijon FCO, recently promoted to Ligue 1, for ?1M.(H)

2013-14: League One - Jan 14-current

Winter signings:
  • Zlatko Loncar: a 15-years old Croatian striker, signed from Vodice (some lower level club, I don't know, as I don't have Croatia marked at the start of the game). He came in a free transfer, and was the youngest player to debut with FC Halifax. Despite being young, the lad already have bags of potential, being tipped to be a future Premier League striker.
  • Bryan Christie: 16-years old goalkeeper, signed from Queen's Park also in a free transfer.
  • Shaun Brisley: paid 200K to Colchester for him, highest transfer fee ever paid by the club.
  • Adnan Januzaj: loan from Man Utd, came as a cover for Levi Marengo, 3 months out.
  • Nathan: loan from Chelse, came as a cover for both Shaun Brisley and Daniel Boateng, 3 months out each.

22.2.2014 - Preston 2-2 Halifax
Vastic opened the scoresheet in the 11th minute after a good pinpoint pass from Helenius. Kostrna then scored an own goal just before the break after trying to cut a cross from the right. In the same move Brisley picked up an injury. Then Emre Can also suffered an injury in the 63rd minute; Klauke and Aycicek came on their places, respectively. Garner completed the comeback in the 81st minute, but Helenius scored four minutes later.

1.3.2014 - Halifax 0-0 Sheffield United
Chakouri was sent off in the 17th minute, after a strange challenge on Januzaj. However, the team failed to take advantage of the "man down", and despite dominating the match, the team failed to score.

8.3.2014 - Halifax 4-1 Bradford
A good home victory which took us to 2nd. Jansen scored early in the 13th minute in a fierce shot from outside the area. Nditi doubled the advantage in the 29th minute, heading home a Januzaj cross. 9 minutes later, Klauke scored the third from a corner, took by Jansen. Sinclair scored in the 76th minute, after just coming off the bench to replace Gueye. Vastic scored four minutes later, putting the ball in the corner after a pinpoint pass from Walker.

Next post: Match v Nottingham Forest.
