Hey guys, new to this, so sorry if a similar question has been asked before... but I'll ask it anyway, would be appreciated if someone could direct me to a relevant thread that might help, or have a go at answering!
Background....
So I took over at Wolves, first season went great, promoted top of League 1 (I know, its pretty much guaranteed as Wolves) and I'm now 4 games into the Championship season. I've made a couple of signings, mostly wonderkiddy youngsters and Dan Gosling. Last season I managed to get Macheda - but nobody expensive, or on huge salaries.
My board let me know that we are predicted to lose 2.8m over the season, just under the 3m I'm allowed to lose apparently for FFP rules. So I'm chuffed.
Then comes another notification that over the season I'm set to make a profit of 200k, so everything looks great.
A week later, another notification... we're set to lose ?10m over the season, so I have to find ?7m to stay inside the rules. No idea how this changed, the players' wage hikes had already happened, I've not signed anyone ridiculous, but I assume its come from somewhere. Anyway, thats not the problem, I can accept the loss.
Kevin Doyle is on something stupid like ?48k a week, and a midfielder I can happily live without is on ?20k a week - so I can get rid of both and save ?70k a week - so maybe around ?3m for the season (ish).
The transfer window has closed, so I wont make anything from selling them...
I'm nowhere near premiership quality and I wont get promoted or relegated this season so FFP will *** me
so.. Questions:
1. Will you definitely get fired for being ?7m over FFP in the championship in year 2?
2. Would you recommend releasing those 2 players (Doyle is a loss, but I can live with it)
3. Will you get fired for being a couple of million over FFP?
4. Does anyone have any idea how much un-accounted for money you make in the champ? (TV money, cup runs etc)? - I doubt itll be anywhere near enough
If anyone has been through a similar thing, let me know.
Thanks for your help
Henry
