Would you believe that? Southampton today have unveiled the signing of Mohammed Jameel for the vacant head coach position left by Nigel Adkins. Jameel, 25, is unknown in England, as well as back home in Bahrain. The lack of experience of this man has left Southampton fans bewildered as to the chairman’s decision to hire him. With a budget of 9m euros, can “The Saints” survive relegation? Or can the unproven manager rise up to the expectations and promote his team to the top flight?

Southampton boss Mohammed Jameel has dipped into the transfer market already and has announced that Joe Lewis and Stephen Kelly will be joining Southampton from Peterborough and Fulham respectively. The deals are reported to have cost the club around €4.5m, and both players will slot straight into the first team. “Joe has been capped at youth level for England, whereas Kelly will bring Premier League experience to the team which will be vital this season”, said Jameel in a recent interview.

Southampton claim surprise win (15-07-2011)Underdogs Southampton managed to defeat Scottish side Celtic in a match that ended 2-0. Late goals by Connolly and Chaplow were enough to secure a victory for The Saints. Jameel’s boys then struggled however to draw against Kilmarnock, with Frazer Richardson scoring a late equalizer in the 90th​ minute.

Southampton fans are delighted with Mohammed Jameel as he managed to secure the signing of James Beattie on a free transfer. The English striker, now 33, has welcomed the chance to join his old club for whom he scored 23 goals in the 2002-03 season. Jameel is still wheeling and dealing in the transfer market, with a deal for Italian veteran Marco Materazzi likely to strike in the next few days.

The Saints hammered Scotland’s Ayr United 7-1, with Rickie Lambert netting a hat-trick, and Marco scoring on his debut. The victory meant so much to the Italian that he shared it with his fans on Twitter.Marco, 37, enjoyed a brief spell with English side Everton 12 years ago, but clearly he has forgotten the basics of the language.
