Finances:

In order to buy players you need to have a club with strong finances. Sadly most clubs in the game rarely make money and at best break even each season. The richest league in the game is the Premiership and with 20m for the winner and 30m for TV rights most clubs tend to make a profit. My tip here is sell in order to buy. In my current game with Liverpool I bought Messi for 34m. In order to pay for this transfer I sold Ryan Babel for 38m to Arsenal. Although Ryan Babel is almost world class I had a choice to make. He wasn't going to be happy on the bench and making big money signings in going to have my financial advisors in fits so I made the call to ship him off. At the end of every season my transfers in are always less than or equal to transfers out. Since Liverpool are a club who lose money you need to make a profit in transfers. A good way of doing this is to buy the bargain players and build them up to sell at a later date. It's a policy Arsenal have in real life and one which can be hard to implement as you need to have a good eye for talent and a gift for nurturing them into stars.
Another way of making money is through merchandising. Buying world class players can increase merchandising, but a cheaper way of doing this is to get a feeder club in America and another in Japan or China. With these two links you make upwards of 30m plus throughout the year.
The wage budget is also vital to keeping your club afloat. You're going to need your best players and most of them will be on big money. Forget about these players as they are needed and you just have to face the fact that they are expensive, however, you shouldn't have any player on the bench on over 40k a week, even if you're a big club.
Tip: Keep an eye on who is going free at the end of your current season. You can pick up some great players that can go into your first team or player who will do for a season and be sold at a later date for a profit.

Thats from The Dugout .. Ive seen a full Finance guide somewhere but cant find it, but ill keep looking. ;)
